Yep – it seems that Plymouth Citybus are getting a large batch of Brighton & Hove Scanias back from Brighton, this time to stay. The first of which are due to start arriving this weekend. Full details to follow once fleetnumbers are known.

My last few weeks in the city centre have allowed me finally to catch the new Stagecoach liveried buses in the flesh for the first time, and I have to say I am not that impressed!

Pulse Bus Project

Plymouth Citybus 418 has been donated to the PULSE BUS PROJECT

as Chris Uglow explains on his Facebook post

It’s finally here!! The bus has arrived! Whoop! Thank you Plymouth Citybus for donating us this awesome bus for the Pulse Bus project.
Now to get it converted and kitted ready for our young people to enjoy! If you’d like to know more on partnering and getting involved we’d love to hear from you.

CAN YOU HELP US:
We’ve taken delivery of our amazing bus from City Bus Plymouth yesterday (see my previous post) ready to be converted over the next few months, so excited for this next phase of the bus build, but then ..... we have amazingly been offered a second “Free of charge” bus which is the sister to our main donated bus which can be used for parts as a donor bus as well! To have a spare bus for parts would be amazing and could save us so much money on maintenance, spare wheels , windows, engine, the list is endless.
***The problem is I don’t have anywhere to keep it***
I’m wondering If any of my friends on here that love the charitable work we do with young people who may have land or space in North Cornwall, may know somewhere where it can be parked neatly and left to take bits as we need. I’d love you get in touch if you have any ideas or can help in any way or can share on here.
(I have to get this sorted in the next few weeks.)

From Green Flash to Plain Red

157 has lost her Green Flash livery and is currently running in plain red, presumably waiting to gain the red lines – or will it be swoops for Plymouth Citybus. I believe she did carry Transport for Cornwall names for a short while

Plymouth Citybus 5000’s

The first batch of double decker's in the new 5000 series are these Enviro 400s from Stagecoach London, with several now running in Plymouth in plain red livery. Presumably these will receive full Citybus livery when they get single door conversions in due course. Here are a selection of photos from the last few days in town

The four Scania/ Wrights purchased earlier this year are not expected to last much longer and therefore it seems wont be appearing in Citybus livery. Two of them appear to be regulars on the 23/24 routes at the moment.

Having been in self imposed lockdown since March and working from home I have hardly been out which is partly why things have been so quiet here. However, now we have entered into National Lockdown 2.0 I strangely have had to start going out and will be in the City Centre every day for the next 3-4 weeks so that means I might as well take a few photos while I am there…

Its not just Plymouth Citybus who are altering services:

Stagecoach have posted this under the headline We are increasing some of our services

In response to customer feedback, from Sunday 1st November we’re introducing a few new timetables across our Network. Over the last few months we have worked hard to restore frequent services across the region, in many cases to service levels in place prior to the COVID19 pandemic. We have continued to monitor our buses to insure we’re offering you the service level you need. We have identified a few areas where we’d like to add in some extra journeys to give you more frequent connections, more details below:

Exeter

E1/E2 Exeter City Centre - Exwick - Exeter City Centre:
We’ve added some extra buses across the day, offering you a higher frequency connection between Exwick, St  Thomas and the City centre. You currently have 4 buses an hour, with a combined frequency of every 15 minutes. By adding in extra service we've uplifting the route to 6 buses every hour, or a combined frequency of every 10 minutes.  This provides valuable extra capacity to the Exwick and St Thomas areas.

1 Tiverton - Halberton - Willand - Cullompton - Bradninch - Exeter City Centre:
We’ve added an extra bus in every hour, to uplift your frequency from 3 to 4 buses per hour. This means that we’ll be connecting Exeter with Pinhoe, Broadclyst and Cullompton every 15 minutes instead of the current 20 minutes.

39 Newton Abbot - Bovey Tracey - Chudleigh - Exeter City Centre:
The Sunday trips will no longer serve Haldon Forest over the winter, service reverts to previous timetable

Route 4 Axminster Huntley Close - Axminster Railway Station:

New timetable with extra buses to provide additional capacity.

Route 6/A  Exeter and Bude via Okehampton (6) or Launceston (6A):

New timetable with extra buses to provide additional capacity.

Torquay

12 Brixham - Paignton - Torquay - Newton Abbot:
We’re bumping up your buses from every 12 minutes to every 10 minutes, so you’ve got 12% more seats to choose from between Brixham, Newton Abbot and Torquay. 
22 Paignton South Devon College - Paignton - Torquay - St Marychurch - Teignmouth - Dawlish:
Will have a minimal timetable change.
35A/35C Torquay - Torbay Hospital - The Willows – Torquay 2-3 buses per hour:  
We’ve put in an extra bus across the day, offering you a better frequency between Torquay, the Hospital and The Willows. You currently have 2 buses an hour, or every 30 minutes - by adding another bus each hour your new frequency will be every 20 minutes.  
7 Totnes - Newton Abbot - Exeter City Centre:
We’re introducing an express journey X7 with a new route, linking Torquay with Honiton Road and Sowton in the morning and afternoons. This will offer a commuter option for passengers travelling to work at Sowton and Matford in Exeter. The journey will connect with services in Honiton Road for Amazon and Lidl for shifts starting at 0600.

Plymouth

14 Derriford - Ham - Devonport - Plymouth City Centre:
The final trip from Derriford to the city centre has been removed.

Barnstaple

The following services have had some timing points removed, these are the stops shown on our timetables with a guaranteed stopping time. You’ll need to double check your timetable before you travel- if you don’t see your usual stop shown, we’ll still be stopping but the time given on our app will be estimated based on the times at stops before and after.

9 Bishop’s Tawton:
Barnstaple stop will no longer be a timing point.
10 Barnstaple Town Service:
Lethaby Road stop will no longer be a timing point.
21 Westward Ho! - Bideford - Barnstaple - Ilfracombe – Georgeham (21) Appledore - - Bideford - Barnstaple - Ilfracombe – Georgeham (21A):
Outbound; Westward Ho! Avon Lane stop will no longer be a timing point.  Northam Lenards Road timing point has changed to Northam Swimming Pool; Instow Anstey Way has changed to Instow Rectory Lane. Inbound; Timing points. Northam Square removed; Instow Anstey Way changed to Instow Marine Parade; Fremington Taw View changed to Fremington New Inn
372 Hooper Water stop will no longer be a timing point.

5b Landcross stop will no longer be a timing point.

641 Landcross stop will no longer be a timing point.

14/16 Bideford Morrisons - East-the-Water - Bideford Quay (14) Bideford Quay - Appledore - Westward Ho! - Bideford Quay (16):
Services will now start at Morrisons.
19 Roundswell - Barnstaple:
Services will now start at Sainsburys.

815 Buses have been retimed on a Friday afternoon.

660 Buses will now operate the route as a Loop.

856 Buses will now operate the route as a Loop.

Plymouth doesnt come out that well with just the one service reduction, although North Devon dont see any real changes either.

Cornwall by Kernow routes will run on the following frequencies from 31st May (they mean November!). Social distancing measures will continue to be maintained as set out separately on the website>>

Our Atlantic Coasters on A1, A2 & A3 will run throughout the winter with a new timetable starting on Sunday 1 November 2020. Some buses on A1 will run via Sennen Cove towards Land’s End then return via Porthcurno to Penzance. See the new timetable for full details

A5: Newquay | Watergate Bay | Cornwall Airport Newquay | Mawgan Porth | Padstow

A4: Gwithian Red River Inn - St Ives

Our Atlantic Coasters on the A4 & A5 will be tucked up safe and warm for winter. Look out for them as the weather gets warmer in spring 2021.

A17: St Ives | Penzance | St Just | Pendeen

We are making some minor changes to the route between Penzance and Crowlas. Some buses will serve Newtown Lane in Long Rock for St. Theresa’s and Marazion Station throughout the day. There are minor changes to the timetable during the week, and on Sundays buses will run up to 10 minutes later than now.

M6: Penzance | Newlyn | Mousehole

There are minor changes to the timetable. On Sundays, buses will run up to 10 minutes later than now.

T1/T2: Truro | Redruth | Camborne | Hayle | St Ives (T2) or Penzance (T1)

No Change

U1/U2: Falmouth | Penryn | Penryn Campus | Truro (U1) or Redruth (U2)

No Change

U4: Penzance | Porthleven | Helston | Falmouth

No Change

24: Fowey | Par | St Blazey | St Austell | Mevagissey
