Fleet Update Part One

I have long been promising a fleet update for Plymouth Citybus but at last have had a bit of time to update my own records so will start going through the fleet a batch at a time. As always this is not an official list so please let me know if you spot any errors or disagree with my listings!

Citybus Fleet News: Volvo B7TLs–the end!

Its been a while since we have had any Citybus fleet news here but there are a few changes occurring now and over the coming few weeks when the new timetables come into use. I will try and catch up over the next few days…

Volvo B7TLs

The end of an era as the last few are taken out of service

442 Y814TGH has now been withdrawn

433 is the last one in service and expected to come off this week (tomorrow could well be its last day!)

These have certainly been survivors and have been around a lot longer than many expected.

The ex Go North East Volvo B7TLs which arrived last year have not been used with most having already left for scrap, or will be shortly.

Other double deck news is that the current batch of London Enviros are expected to take fleet numbers 4001 upwards – details to be confirmed. These will be converted to single door before entering service. A few have yet to arrive from London.

The last few of the previous batch that are still dual doored buses 477 478 488 489 are now expected to become the training fleet instead of the Citaros.

More fleet news to come – not good news for Citaro or Dart fans…

Going Going…

Managed to get a bit of time this evening to bring us more up to date with the Plymouth Citybus fleet.

374 and 376 are now down in Cornwall as non psvs

Dennis Darts 62 and 65 both departed for scrap this week

Fleet Update Plymouth Citybus

I was planning on doing a full fleet update for Plymouth Citybus, and I have now updated the fleet list itself which is available to view HERE

With my wife in hospital after an emergency admission earlier this week I have had very little time on ‘the buses’ so its just a very quick update…

The big new is that there are a few more additions to the fleet from Go Ahead London

New fleet numbers not yet known

There will be a few buses leaving the fleet fairly soon with more Dennis Darts due to go to scrap shortly – some of these are mentioned in the fleet list – but as ever plans can and will change. The recent Scania Wright buses are also leaving pretty soon.

I will try and add more detail along with photos etc during the course of next week when things should start getting back to normal although time will still be limited as I resume the carer role when my wife comes home after what appears to have been a successful operation.

Plymouth Citybus has seen the departure unused of the Volvo double deckers back to East Yorkshire.

Note that they have been numbered after the other Scanias and not in the 1000’s which suggests these are staying around a bit longer?

Its been a while since Part 4 of the Citybus fleet update series so better crack on...
January 2005 saw the last batch of Dennis Dart SLF with Alexander Pointer 2 B37F bodywork enter service with Citybus. Of course more Darts have arrived at Citybus (should be on the road very shortly) with more to follow later this year from Go-Ahead in London.

Citybus Catch up - Part three

Part three of my Citybus catch-up series looks at the second batch of Dennis Darts that arrived in 2001. These were first in the fleet to carry to new style registration numbers, and indeed Citybus were among the few operators to place '51's into service on the 1st day of the new series. They were the second half of a batch of ten Pointers for 2001 but are separated from their sisters (44-48) by the three Volvo B6s 51-53 which are remarkable survivors in a city of Darts and still continue in service to this day. Anyway, lets get on with the photographs of this batch as they have been caught on camera this year...

09:18 Plymouth Citybus is delighted to announce with immediate effect a reduction in the price of the family Dayrider ticket to £5. This ticket covers travel for the whole day on all Plymouth Citybus routes for a group consisting of a maximum of two adults and three children. This ticket will remain at this price it is not just a special offer for the Easter break.
14:40 Slight delay to inbound traffic on Alma Road towards City Centre.
15:17 Obstruction cleared from Alma Road, all services operating inbound to City Centre as normal

Citybus Fleet Catch Up Part 2

Back on 29th January I started a series catching up with the current Citybus fleet, one batch at a time. I started with the first complete batch I had up-to-date photos for, which appropriately enough was fleet numbers 1-12. Since then I have taken lots of photos but have only just completed another full batch, so better late than never here is part two of the Citybus fleet update with Dennis Darts 60-66 WJ52GNY-GOK. It wont be too long to wait for the next batch as I have already got another batch ready to run with

Citybus Fleet Catch up

Now I have a camera again, one of my main aims is to get back on top with the current livery situation of the main bus fleets in Plymouth. Last weekend I managed over 100 decent quality photographs which I am still slowly sorting through and it was clear that my records were out of date. Today is the first part of a fleet update which will take place over the coming months as I get back on top of things: We start appropriately enough at number 1, or to be more precise Plymouth Citybus 1 - 12, N101-112UTT:
