WJ55CRX East Lancs Trident still in First PLYMOUTH livery on route 100 operating as Stagecoach 18533, the very small Stagecoach fleet names on the side being the only clue thats its no longer a First Bus.

34092 was only with FDC from October 2014 to September 2015 when she joined Jacketts Coaches. The last record I have found has her withdrawn by Jacketts by October 2017
Picture Trail 001 was a First bus which was sorry for not being in service. Today we have First Devon & Cornwall 34052 P252UCW a Volvo Olympian with very nice Northern Counties bodywork seen here in September 2010 at Marsh Mills Roundabout, Plymouth which was equally apologetic
34052 came from First Bristol in December 2009, leaving the fleet in February 2016 to Dan Shears, being scrapped by February 2019
The first ever proper post in Plymothian Transit was of First 50743 J143SJT. This bus had just been repainted into full Barbie livery which I thought was surprising as many of its sisters had already been withdrawn
She was still on the road in July 2006 when I took this photo of her at Derrys Cross, Royal Parade. She left the fleet by September 2006.

With the mostly modern fleet that Stagecoach are running in town its easy to forget what a motley selection of buses First ran in Plymouth. However there were times when some quite impressive buses were running for First…
69077 was one of quite a number of these Volvo B7RLEs that were brought in to compete with Plymouth Citybus. Very nice they were too! Sadly they didn't stay that long and soon First were back in decline. These buses were off elsewhere within the First empire. Some at least have ended up back in Glasgow and a few of them are now appearing in the new look SimpliCity branding for the 9 9A Hillington - Cardonald - Ibrox - City Centre route.

I will miss these, just a little bit anyway
Dwarfed by the majestic bridges at Saltash Passage. The 6 and 7 routes were the ones I grew up with and went to school on. It was the Bristol FLFs and then the nice new VRs which led to me becoming a bus spotter.

Somehow the ugobus brand managed to survive right till the end. A brand launched with so much promise but then left to wither away.
A time to reflect on what was and what could have been
There wont be that many photos of First buses and Yellow Flash together as they were only overlapping for one week. Plymouth certainly has colourful buses. It remains to be seen if Stagecoach bring quite as much colour as First did.

From 13 September there is a new timetable for these routes. U1 & U2 will no longer go between Falmouth Campus Woodlane and Falmouth The Moor.
A new half hourly route U3 will connect these locations and Penryn Campus Tremough during Monday to Friday daytimes. The first two northbound and last two southbound U3 journeys will also serve Falmouth Hotel

The ex Lothian and Ensign Dart's are receiving attention for return to service, 43904-6 are SK52OJF SK52OKD SK52OKF all now in the new FG12 Kernow livery although they may not have full fleet names yet

As we have already mentioned there are a lot of buses coming into the fleet over the coming weeks to replace all the non DDA fleet:
10 Volvo B7TL/ Alexander are due from Manchester with 30871 30872 30874 30876 30879 all confirmed arrived in Cornwall so far. Another 8 are due from West Yorkshire. When Devon closes down they are expecting 38 DDs , 3 Solos and 3 Darts to join the Kernow fleet. There may also be some DDs from Bristol. There are also the 20 narrow Darts / Caetano buses due.
The local fleet list has been updated for First up to the latest PSV Circle new sheets which as seen quite a few disposals confirmed over the last few months including 23204 31457 31458 34068 34171 34188 34189 34219 40038 40580 40598 41156 42207 42459 42634 42834 42844.

A bumper selection this week as we have the full cancellations from First Devon along with the new registrations for Stagecoach to replace a few of them. As if that wasnt enough Stagecoach have put in loads of changes during September, some of which are the cuts being implemented by Devon County Council. Target Travel register their new 52, Filers make a few changes too. I know this looks like a lot but its by no means all of them! There are still a few outstanding from the end of last week which I have not got through to yet which will appear in the next Devon Transit. Ive now got to start building up a lot of maps and timetables ready for all of these routes in September!

First seem to have stepped up a gear recently when it comes to repaints. Richard Smith has caught a couple of the latest into the standard Olympia livery, although neither carries any proper fleetnames just yet.
53154 Optare Solo looks very smart indeed on the 6.

As yet another route pulls out of Bretonside, we look back to happier times when these fine coaches were the regulars on the X38
HUNDREDS of people have supported a proposal for a community bus following the withdrawal of the number 18 bus connecting Brixham with Kingswear and Dartmouth in the evenings. Stagecoach stopped running the evening bus route on March 30, due to Torbay Council’s withdrawal of all bus subsidies in order to save £42,650 from its budget. The ‘Save the 18!’ campaign says the loss of the evening service has caused ‘job losses, holiday cancellations and widespread social implications’. An online petition has collected more than 700 signatures.
The last number 18 bus now leaves Brixham at 7.30pm instead of 11pm. And the last bus leaves Kingswear at 8pm instead of 11.30pm. Campaign leader Elliot Massey said route 18 was the only method of public transport between Brixham, Kingswear and Dartmouth and he was working with the new Brixham Community Bus Project to ‘stay one step ahead of the council in case we don’t get our evening bus route back’.

STAGECOACH has revealed plans to relocate Exeter’s bus depot to the park and ride site at Matford The proposed move makes way for the redevelopment of the current bus station site, where a £20m swimming pool will be built by the city council and a cinema complex, shops, cafes and restaurants will be created by the owners of Princesshay. The planning application reveals Stagecoach wants to:
Create a large new depot with maintenance facilities, washing area and offices. Create 158 bus parking spaces for its Exeter fleet, 86 of which would be in the park and ride car park. Create more than 50 staff parking spaces. The existing park and ride car park would be upgraded with new tarmac and drainage to allow the buses to park there.

A new booklet aimed at encouraging people to enjoy the great scenic train journeys along the Riviera Line between Exeter to Paignton and promoting South Devon has been published. The free booklet has been produced by the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership and brings together ideas for great days out in Exeter, Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot and along the English Riviera. Walks from stations are also featured including the Exe Estuary Trail and Agatha Christie Mile in Torquay.
