The former Brighton & Hove Scania’s are finally starting to go through the paint shop with 6013 being the first to emerge in the new ‘connections’ livery. Looking very smart too.

As much as I like B&H livery, I think I prefer her current state (although I prefer the swoop). I am sure there will be plenty of people who will disagree though!

Yep – it seems that Plymouth Citybus are getting a large batch of Brighton & Hove Scanias back from Brighton, this time to stay. The first of which are due to start arriving this weekend. Full details to follow once fleetnumbers are known.
The four Scania/ Wrights purchased earlier this year are not expected to last much longer and therefore it seems wont be appearing in Citybus livery. Two of them appear to be regulars on the 23/24 routes at the moment.

The Brighton Scania double deckers have now departed Plymouth back to Brighton & Hove. There was a suggestion that these might be staying around a bit longer especially with the additional school work from September but it seems they are not going to be needed so home they go.
To mark their leaving I have this wonderful shot from Alex Street Photography;
“During the extreme hours of the morning and night Plymouth Citybus operate a group of bus routes often refereed to as the "Troopers". These were originally introduced to convoy staff to and from work at hours where a normal bus service would not be viable. Enviro 200 WA56 HHP is seen flying past, on the 20th August 2020, loaned Scania N270 YN57 FYG working the 85 which is one of the two current trooper routes currently in operation.
Should my information is correct this should also be the final day of operation for YN57 FYG, assuming it doesn't head out into service tomorrow (21st August), before it goes back to Brighton during the weekend. It's a shame to see these go being some of the best vehicles that have operated in Plymouth for some time but as with all good things, they must end”

Its nice to see yet another bit of Brighton & Hove back on our streets. I still miss the old Tridents which were firm favourites of mine. I missed the chance of catching this one on my first bus trip out since March as it didnt appear on the tracker so I caught the earlier bus for my appointment. It did at least give me 20 mins outside Tesco in the pouring rain to get some pictures…
1204 seen at Tesco Transit Way this week on the 51, at least one other was also on the route.

It does seem really odd catching buses under the new rules. Apart from the fact that wearing masks is horrible (but I did keep it on) it was very lonely. For much of my ride I was the only one on the top deck – but then when a young lady got on she had the choice of the whole top deck and yet still managed to sit less than two meters away!
I finally managed to get a shot of one of the Scania single deckers that have recently been put back into service with 371 seen here ‘Not in service’ but on her way onto Royal Parade where I believe she did go out in service. I cant say I am a fan of these buses as a passenger but its good to see Citybus retaining a few oddities within the fleet!
At least two of the Scanias were in service in Plymouth yesterday. I managed to get a rushed pic of 372 at Derriford on the 42 but then recieved these two great shots from Richard Smith which were far better than mine!

I am still not convinced about the styling of these bodies. The front looks great but somehow the whole bus does not quite work as a design. It is great to some more variety on our streets though so the buses are more than welcome!
To explore or to discover? Multi-operator tickets are a great thing, but they're nothing new. Many of us grew up with Explorer tickets allowing us to travel far and wide, well beyond the reach of our local operator.

Transpeak: Manchester - Derby The Transpeak, often known as the TP, provides the main bus link into and through the Peak District. Its core section from Buxton to Derby runs every hour each daytime, but a few buses each day also run to and from Manchester. It's operated by High Peak and is possibly the only bus route that has a better logo than the company that runs it:
The Soller Tramway The electric train from Palma to Soller forms only part of the journey from Majorca's capital to the island's north coast for the Ferrocarril de Soller (FS) also operates a tramway from Soller station the three miles down to the stunning Port de Soller.
Has the Greenock Bus Gone? Invariably, when fbb is researching or observing (without anorak, bobble hat or notebook!), someone will accost him requesting public transport advice.

I was hoping to get to town this weekend to have a go on this one, but it wasn't to be. This smart looking Scania three axle demonstrator is with Citybus until the end of this week and will be working mostly on the 43.
The length of this bus would make it ideal to bridge the gap between double decker's and single decker's but restricts the bus just just one or two routes so its unlikely that we will see any join the fleet permanently.
Still it makes a change and I still hope to get out and about this week as I have a few days off - so I may just get my ride yet!
