The former Brighton & Hove Scania’s are finally starting to go through the paint shop with 6013 being the first to emerge in the new ‘connections’ livery. Looking very smart too.

As much as I like B&H livery, I think I prefer her current state (although I prefer the swoop). I am sure there will be plenty of people who will disagree though!

The Brighton Scania double deckers have now departed Plymouth back to Brighton & Hove. There was a suggestion that these might be staying around a bit longer especially with the additional school work from September but it seems they are not going to be needed so home they go.
To mark their leaving I have this wonderful shot from Alex Street Photography;
“During the extreme hours of the morning and night Plymouth Citybus operate a group of bus routes often refereed to as the "Troopers". These were originally introduced to convoy staff to and from work at hours where a normal bus service would not be viable. Enviro 200 WA56 HHP is seen flying past, on the 20th August 2020, loaned Scania N270 YN57 FYG working the 85 which is one of the two current trooper routes currently in operation.
Should my information is correct this should also be the final day of operation for YN57 FYG, assuming it doesn't head out into service tomorrow (21st August), before it goes back to Brighton during the weekend. It's a shame to see these go being some of the best vehicles that have operated in Plymouth for some time but as with all good things, they must end”

Its nice to see yet another bit of Brighton & Hove back on our streets. I still miss the old Tridents which were firm favourites of mine. I missed the chance of catching this one on my first bus trip out since March as it didnt appear on the tracker so I caught the earlier bus for my appointment. It did at least give me 20 mins outside Tesco in the pouring rain to get some pictures…
1204 seen at Tesco Transit Way this week on the 51, at least one other was also on the route.
My own bus was this fine example looking good in full swoops
It does seem really odd catching buses under the new rules. Apart from the fact that wearing masks is horrible (but I did keep it on) it was very lonely. For much of my ride I was the only one on the top deck – but then when a young lady got on she had the choice of the whole top deck and yet still managed to sit less than two meters away!
With all the fancy livery designs around these days its often interesting to try and work out where the designers got their inspiration from. Richard Smith caught former Brighton bus GU52HKB on camera with a familiar looking white feature on the rear end…
At first glance it does look like the swoop. Since then the Citybus poster has been removed completely and the bus currently advertises the 78 route to Stanmer Park, presumably somewhere near Brighton! Hopefully it wont be long before these two ex Brighton buses get fully swooped.

Sorry to bring even more bad news but I have just been notified that from Monday 15th June – Friday 19th June Plymouth City Council will tarmac Derriford Road as part of the Marjon Link Road scheme. They will restrict the road to single file and use temporary traffic lights, but this will inevitably lead to delays. The lights will be manned so they can be changed to reflect traffic demand and give priority to Blue Light Emergency Ambulances.

More Dennis Tridents from Brighton & Hove have now arrived at Milehouse awaiting refurbishment before being placed in service. The full batch will be registrations PK02RDU PK02RDV PK02RDY PK02RDZ PK02RFE PK02RFF PK02RFJ PK02RFL
The batch is due to fill fleet numbers 480 to 487 but I am not sure what order they are in. (480 RFF, 482 RDU 483 RDV)
There is still one to arrive in Plymouth – PK02RFE which is still in Brighton having not made it out of the city.

As they are already basically red I would expect them to be pressed into service pretty quickly in Brighton livery but I am sure it wont be long before they start getting swooped. The Solos have almost been completed with one in the workshop (222) leaving just 223 in green.
These Tridents look quite tidy inside and being longer length and single door buses I am sure their capacity will come in very handy indeed.
