Picture Trail 009: Grey Cars Harrington 1RDV

Picture Trail 008 was a Harrington coach as is

Grey Cars No 1 1RDV, an AEC Reliance with Harrington Cavalier 41-seat body. Delivered in 1963 it was used as the directors' special coach during inspections of Grey Cars and Devon General's operations, and also to take the Torquay United Football Club team to away games until 1969.

Picture Trail 008: 100VRL

Picture Trail 007 was on the 100 whereas todays post is a coach that has 100 on it…

King Harry Coaches 100 VRL

100VRL is a 1964 AEC Reliance with Harrington coachwork, built for Hawkey's Coaches of Newquay for use on British and continental tours. It later spent many years with Ridlers of Dulverton and would often be seen in Taunton in the 1970s. She is a regular on the preservation event circuit and is a lovely coach to travel on.

Stagecoach 18533 WJ55CRX

WJ55CRX East Lancs Trident still in First PLYMOUTH livery on route 100 operating as Stagecoach 18533, the very small Stagecoach fleet names on the side being the only clue thats its no longer a First Bus.

Picture Trail 004 Festival Wrap

Picture Trail 003 was a Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympian that started life in London as did PN02XCP Plymouth Citybus 409 an East Lancs bodied Volvo B7TL seen on Royal Parade June 2011 in a somewhat chaotic advertising wrap for Plymouth Summer festival and Plymouth Winter Festival.

Plymouth Citybus 409 PN02XCP

409 came to Citybus from London General (EVL30) in July 2009. She received this livery by June 2011. She left Citybus July 2017 to go All Saints Academy as an Art Studio returning to Milehouse in September 2019 for removal of any useful parts and then scrapping.

Picture Trail 003: Northern Counties Olympian

Picture Trail 002 was a Northern Counties bodied Olympian, as is 34092 T892KLF seen on Royal Parade Plymouth in August 2015, not, it has to be said, looking her best.

First 34092 T892KLF

34092 was only with FDC from October 2014 to September 2015 when she joined Jacketts Coaches. The last record I have found has her withdrawn by Jacketts by October 2017

Picture Trail 002: I am so sorry

Picture Trail 001 was a First bus which was sorry for not being in service.  Today we have First Devon & Cornwall 34052 P252UCW a Volvo Olympian with very nice Northern Counties bodywork seen here in September 2010 at Marsh Mills Roundabout, Plymouth which was equally apologetic

First 34052 P252UCW

34052 came from First Bristol in December 2009, leaving the fleet in February 2016 to Dan Shears, being scrapped by February 2019

Picture Trail 001. The First One

This is the start of a picture trail for April 2024 onwards where each picture is somehow tenuously linked to the one before. At the very least this should get me posting more regularly again!

The first ever proper post in Plymothian Transit was of First 50743 J143SJT. This bus had just been repainted into full Barbie livery which I thought was surprising as many of its sisters had already been withdrawn

First 50743 J143SJT (Sold)

She was still on the road in July 2006 when I took this photo of her at Derrys Cross, Royal Parade. She left the fleet by September 2006.
