Target to Tally Ho!

As Target Travel comes to its end this week there has been an interesting notice on Tally Ho! Coaches web site:

PTBS 960 Tally Ho

“Target Travel have agreed to work together with Tally Ho! coaches to make sure that their customers can continue their coach transport arrangements once Target wind down their operations in February. Some staff and some vehicles will be taken on by Tally Ho! to make sure that customer service is unaffected.”

Robert Risk from Target Travel says:

“We would like to thank our industry partners at Tally Ho Coaches for their support during this time of change for Target Travel, by working closely together we can ensure that our customer base continues to be served to the highest standard.  We are appreciative of the opportunities given by Tally Ho Coaches to our loyal staff members during this transition period.”

Don McIntosh from Tally Ho! Coaches says:

” We are very pleased to be able to work with the team at Target Travel to make sure that their customers are looked after. Tally Ho! have premises right next door to Target Travel which means that communication will be good and we can make certain that there is a smooth transfer.”

  1. Latest article in the local paper suggests that PCB may be forced to abandon their ridiculous plans to axe the PR3 service

    1. Nah they'll press ahead with the merger into the 42s.

    2. Can't see hope anyone can force them into it as it's a commercial service. We will have to wait and see how the new arrangements work though as in theory it's much the same level of service.

  2. I thought the PR3 was supported by Plymouth City Council? (apologies if I am mistaken).

In any case, the freeing-up of the resources from the PR3 by incorporating it into the 42/42C will allow PCB to maintain a service to Mainstone, which IS supported by Plymouth City Council - and after all, it is their road closure that is necessitating the latter change!

    1. It was supported way back (when still run by Target) but no more

  3. Surely there will still be a 15min frequency between the George park and ride and Derriford under the new arrangements. Also parts of the City (Glenholt, Estover Industrial estate) will be reconnected to a regular bus service after years of absence.

    2. Yes Stagecoach 101. Citybus 42 and 42c whilst 4 times an hour are not clockface 15 min frequency..more 20/10 !! This will mean more bunchibg imo. Stagecoach should do well from this change.

    3. Hmm, a 10/20 frequency isn't ideal, but presumably is because it combines with the 42A/42B to offer a ten-minute headway between Derriford and the City Centre.

I wonder if it would be possible to withdraw the 42A/42B and operate those journeys instead as extra 42s to George Junction, and restructure the 40/41 Southway services to incorporate Tamerton Foliot? Or would local residents be upset about losing their direct link to the Hospital?

    4. Will P+R fares tumble as a result of new George to City Centre competition?? Could be good for passengers (at least in the short term) as SC lowered fares when Citybus took over the PR3 from Target!!

    5. Citybus didn't serve George park and ride site to Royal Parade route before thus adding competition for SC I think Anon 15 Feb at 08.50 means?

  4. Does anyone know what vehicles are transferring?

    1. Good point as Richard Stevens suggested (in a Cornwall Live interview) the new E400 City (standing in front of a 42 group one) would operate in Cornwall.

  5. Interesting perhaps to compare the Stagecoach v Citybus P+R daily/weekly/monthly fare when the new services commence (site operates on free to park pay on bus from site basis)! Anyone on here use the site?
