In The News

  1. With reference to the 899 registration by Axe Valley, the change for 31st May arrived a few weeks before the 8th May change! An admin cock by the Company. The 8th May change removes the Lyme Regis journeys introduced in September, except for the Schooldays journeys to Woodroffe School. The short journeys to Axmouth continue until 28th May.

  2. The reduction in frequency of the Coypool park-and-ride could be self-defeating. The purpose of the P&R is to discourage car-drivers from driving into the city centre and one of the carrots is that it is quicker. I think many car-users will not take kindly to waiting 20 minutes for the bus to leave - even if it is then only a 7-minute journey (that's the fastest I have done it from Coypool to Charles Street). In the evening rush hour, with bus lanes, the return journey is much better than in a car - but drivers may not think of that during the day while they are waiting for the bus to go. This is a commercial service so Stagecoach can choose the frequency - but I do wonder if daytime loadings will go down.

The last of the taxi buses is on its way out - is this a City Council cut or are there plans to replace it?
