VOSA Greyhound and Target

 

Its not just Plymouth Citybus and First Devon & Cornwall that are making changes to their services. Western Greyhound have registered a lot of changes recently too. Most of them don't really fit within the geographical remit of this blog but I do keep a log of all Devon & Cornwall registrations HERE on Google Docs.

  • PH0006741/26 - Variation Accepted: Operating between POLPERRO, Crumplehorn and LISKEARD given service number 573 effective from 03-Nov-2013. To amend Timetable.
  • PH0006741/41 - Variation Accepted: Operating between LOOE and PLYMOUTH given service number 572 effective from 03-Nov-2013. To amend Timetable.

We have also had a few more from Target Travel:

ROBERT JOHN RISK, 4 ARCADIA, ELBURTON, PLYMOUTH, PL9 8EF

  • PH0006742/42 - Variation Accepted: Operating between Hooe and Royal Parade given service number 7D effective from 04-Nov-2013. To amend Route.
  • PH0006742/44 Cancellation Accepted: Operating between Royal Parade and Derriford given service number 14 effective from 04-Nov-2013.
  • PH0006742/45 - Variation Accepted: Operating between Elburton and Royal Parade given service number 18 effective from 04-Nov-2013. To amend Timetable.
  • PH0006742/47 - Cancellation Accepted: Operating between Plympton and Derriford Hospital given service number 52 effective from 04-Nov-2013.

The 14 is being replaced by a new 14 operated by Plymouth Citybus whilst the 52 is going to Jacketts Coaches.

As previously mentioned I will be looking at all of these route changes in a lot more detail later on once all the information is in! As for First, the most recent comment from them in a question about the 5 coming off suggests things are still under review…

  2. First changes are now on line... Scale back of services in Plymstock. 15 no longer serves Estover/Mainstone now goes to Roborough and Woolwell to connect with 83 from Tavi, that now runs fast route every 20 mins (beats Citybus frequency here!). 15 also now continues from City to Keyham and Ford as number 4.

    Number 3/3a withdrawn from Barne barton now operates City, St Budeaux, West Park, Honicknowle Green, St Pancras or Honicknowle Lane ?? I'd guess St Pancras, Peverell, Mutley, City, 3a operates opposite way around loop.

    NEW 6 to Efford/Laira as expected.

    Seems quite a good response from First to Citybus I feel, with 2 new routes covering prime Citybus ground, in Efford/Laira and West Park, Honicknowle and Peverell. Quite cheap to run with potentially good returns if launched as web suggests with cheap fares and particularly with citybus 61/62 route baring the brunt of citybus cutbacks.. means many of these areas will have higher frequency and poss cheaper services from First than Citybus!! Maybe just Maybe Mr Carter knows what he is doing here and Citybus may regret starting this bus war!!! I certainly hope so

    Only thing I would say is 1 bus every 20 mins Crownhill/Mutley/City is a bit sparce on main corridor...perhaps they could beef this up with a Whitleigh/Southway route later?

    GOOD LUCK TO FIRST DEVON WITH THESE CHANGES, I HOPE THEY GO WELL AND YOU TEACH THEM AT MILEHOUSE A LESSON. THE BULLY BOYS AT GO AHEAD DESERVE TO LOOSE OUT HERE!

  4. has the 3a actually been registered on VOSA? i have not seen it yet!!!

    1. Its registered as 3 and 3a with terminus/finish point St Budeaux. Basically tey can the end point where they like on VOSA without giving away too much to citybus before launching new routes.

  5. Hold on, anon 1816. Go-Ahead are bully boys? Citybus was owned by the council(company turnover £17 million) until 2009. As soon as the sale was announced, First (turnover £6 billion) piled in extra buses to try to destroy Citybus and disrupt the sale. Citybus is sold to Go-Ahead and stands firm and First gives up the extra routes. Now, Citybus owned by Go-Ahead (turnover £2.5 billion) is having a pop at some First (turnover £6.9 billion) routes. There was only one bully in this situation, and don't forget that even the local companies, First Devon & Cornwall is much larger than Citybus. What goes around comes around.

  6. sounds good to me and speaking to the drivers at first they are all up beat and moral seems high.for the sake of plymouth i hope it all works. Mind I would take grest pleasure to so bg and rs at pcb squirming
