Plymouth & Hove

Chris Moyes isn't coming back, but quite a few of his friends are…

plymouth Citybus 1204 YN57FYF

Yep – it seems that Plymouth Citybus are getting a large batch of Brighton & Hove Scanias back from Brighton, this time to stay. The first of which are due to start arriving this weekend. Full details to follow once fleetnumbers are known.

  1. More cast offs. Perhaps we do need First back with new buses. What a turnaround that would be!!

    1. Citybus have placed loads of new buses into service - and why do you think First will bring in new buses? These Brighton buses will replace older buses. First are bringing in plenty of "casts offs" for their fleet and I am sure will continue to do so - improving their fleet as they go.

  2. This is good news. These Scanias are Euro V upgraded too so their engines are cleaner than the outgoing buses. Question is, what are they replacing? because there's not really many double decks they could replace. Do we know how many are coming?

    1. There's 18 on the way apparently and they're the 2004-06 batch (04,54,05,55 plates) - as far as i know, they're all Euro V standard - Go South Coast were good at upgrading all their buses rather than buying new initially.
Very interested to see what they replace - as there's only a very small number of older deckers laying around now!

    2. Seems PCB short of DD as SD on DD routes like 50 51 34, so could be replacing Citeros

    3. Apparently, they're going into reserve - rather than into service - which i find a little odd - especially if Capacity on buses is an issue.

    4. Agreed, find it peculiar that they’ve be going in to reserve given overcrowding on services. Apparently there is no shortage of DD stock, which does beg the question of why so many busy services are allocated single deck stock (50/51/34 regularly, often 21s too)

    5. Many buses are still running round almost empty for much of the day even on busier services so they probably are not needed so much just yet, but things will start to get busier.

  3. CItybus has always been known to have East Lancs bodied buses so it'll be nice to see them bumbling around the city.

  4. So Citybus started 2020 clearing out all non ADL stuff to become full ADL and has ended it by brining in non ADL buses their strategy is all over the place!

  7. It appears that there are quite a few of these buses from Brighton and Hove knocking about. Go North East have a mixture of 03, 04, 05, 55 and 56 registrations in service at various depots, They also have a couple of 57 regs on loan, the same buses that were at Plymouth Citybus quite recently.
