  1. Cant quite understand the maxicab operation in saltash. my mum lives on the 33 route thats being withdrawn and she says the maxicab is following the 1/1a route not the 33 leaving alot of saltash without a bus from end of march.

  2. Things like timetable changes for the likes of the 8/9, 23/24 and 44/A etc are likely to be pretty minor considering how frequent these services are. Interested to see what happens to the 50 though.

I'm not at all surprised by the cancellation of the 46. It never looked like a profitable service, and I doubt this has been helped with them deciding to rather stupidly put double deckers on it!! It changes with the 42D and 152 during the day as I explained a while ago. The 152 change may be a timetable change so it can stay as a 152 during the day. I don't see any mention of a 42D change - at present the 42D that leaves town at 35mins past the hour changes to the 152, with the one leaving at 05mins past the hour changing to the 46, so are these 42Ds going to just sit at Derriford for 15 minutes or change to something else? Perhaps the 29 and 50, given as these both have timetable changes.

The 43B also has a timetable change - perhaps this is being merged with the 29 again like it used to? At present the 43A/B are merged, as are the 29 and 34. Perhaps leave the 34 as a 34 which should help improve its at present, dreadful reliability.

The 26A I'm not so sure on, it seems pretty pointless to me. It still changes to a 21 once reaching town though.

The 21/A registration does appear to be that the whole route will be 21s - this might be when the new deckers are due?

The 14D change is most likely to better connect with the 'new' 21/As and 50s. The first one arriving in town off the top of my head at around 0512 changes to a 21, with the second one arriving at roughly 6AM changes at present to the 0615 50.

I guess the one most people (myself included) are interested to see will be what the change is to the 45..

  4. Well this is a new one from First...a bit of a fight back along Northern Corridor. 15 Changes are INCREASE to frequency Mon - Fri every 15 mins Citycentre to Derriford Hospital, 2 an hour contiuing to Asda and Mainstone. The change to route is the loop around Marjons and Hospital probably to improve reliability...service will now also serve the Health Centre at Leypark Walk. Satuday every 20 mins!

83/84/86 - only 1 an hour to serve Woolwell and the Hospital (hospital replaced by increased 15!) cant see Woolwell being happy. 3 an hour will now serve Milehouse/Outland Road, 1 via Mutley with additional 15 making up shortfall. In the peak morning and evening runs 84/86 will both serve Mutley so alomng with 15 will provide a 10 min Frequency Crownhill - Mutley - City.. have they got wind of a possible Citybus challenge here!!!

Lets hope for a new Wooolwell service next!!!

But all in all it seems like First are at last looking to fight for market share again.

None of the changes in Plymouth seem to be cuts at all!!!

  5. There are details of the FDC revisions on their website. Service 15 uplifted to every 15 minutes and Tavi services uplifted off peak the rest seems fairly minor

  6. In the main the First Devon changes as per their website are quite good. The increase in the 15 frequency to every 15 mins is very good and most welcome. This takes on Citybus 42/a quite nicely and I think First can do well on this section of route perhaps with some advertising and promotions!!
The increase to 3 number 83's from Tavistock to Plymouth via Milehouse on the quick route with no diversions to Woolwell and Derriford I am sure will be welcome by Tavistock residents. Also the 10 minute frequency along Northern Corridor Derriford - Mutley - City before 10:00 and after 3:30 ish is very good!

Other services to change, 2,4,6,7 seem to be minor changes as opposed to the more major changes on the 15,83,84,86. Only real loosers are the people in Woolwell that see,m to be getting cut back more and more, now just one an hour!! If I were First I would bring in a number 85 (now Jacketts have gone) running hourly from Plymouth City to Woolwell, this with the 84 would give half hour frequency to Woolwell again... and possibly keep Citybus off these routes!!!

  7. route 30 is going to replace the 152, plus it will service transit way and frequency increased to 30 mins.
I have heard that 8/9 & 23/24 are to be merged like they are in the evenings.

    1. Not sure if serving Transit Way is a good thing. Yes, it has its benefits, i.e. more buses to/from Derriford an hour, though many people at the moment catch the 152 to West Park/Crownhill Road etc rather than the 29 simply because it doesn't go into Transit Way. Maybe the peak trips (0750 from Saltash, 1710ish from Derriford) don't serve Transit Way? A 30 minute frequency is a very positive move though.

The 8/9 and 23/24 are indeed merged in the evenings - will be interesting to see if this happens during the day aswell.

No sign of the new timetables yet, though must be soon as they all say '11/11/2012-04/05/2013' - so must be soon!
