Post First Go Cornwall Timetables

In what seems like a hurried announcement, Go Cornwall has released some timetables for their post-First routes set to launch in February.

We’re pleased to share some good news - PDF timetables for our upcoming services are now available! From mid-February, Go Cornwall Bus will begin operating a number of bus services in Cornwall, following First Bus’ withdrawal from the county. These timetables will help you plan your journeys and show how buses will run once Go Cornwall Bus assumes operation.

They provide a list of PDF files showing only the route numbers, without any details about where the routes go—you have to open each file to find out. To make things simpler, I’ve listed the new timetables below:

They do make it clear that things may change and that more information will be given nearer the time

While the timetables are largely final, they are still subject to minor changes as we continue to work closely with Cornwall Council to support local communities and demonstrate our commitment to reliable, accessible bus services across Cornwall. More customer information will be shared before services begin in mid-February.

I will of course be keeping up to date with all the changes due as they get published

  1. Do we know what is happening with the Truro Park & Ride with the withdrawal of First?

    1. The P&R contract is being transferred to an as yet unnamed operator. The buses are owned by the council.

  2. Are GC keeping any of the First buses or have they managed to gain buses from elsewhere? The current 06/57 plate ex- London deckers won't last much longer. Guessing they'll need minibuses for Mousehole?

    1. GC won't be serving Mousehole harbour so they don't need small buses.

    2. My guess is that a lot of the E400 Cities will move down to Cornwall since they have been replaced by electrics. Citybus will probably shift some second hand deckers from London in as well.

    3. Nope, all Cities will remain in Plymouth, all london stock we are receiving is going to Cornwall. Cities are eco friendly and more modern for Plymouth. Plymouth is also getting some of the london stock, presumably to either withdraw the omnidekka’s or the 08 plates E200.

  3. PCB services have been reduced over the last couple of days because buses were sent to Cornwall, once again neglecting the plymouth network, if they don't get extra buses this will become the norm, with no competition in plymouth other than stagecoach who don't seem interested, sad times

  4. The truro p&r is yet to be announced but it has been stated the drivers will have option under tupe to move to new operator.
    Havent gsw just purchased 4 mellor strata mercs that were at preston bus

  5. All the PCB vehicles(including electrics) are relocating to Cornwall & PCB are in advanced talks with an unnamed company with a view to taking on plymouth services when they pull out in the next few months

    1. Well this is clearly false and I don't know why Graham approved it. Firstly the electrics are part funded by Plymouth City Council and as such legally have to remain in Plymouth. Secondly, PCB makes the most money of the business and therefore Go-Ahhead won't sell it. Thirdly, silly anonymous comments like this only make Grahams life harder and will end up to having anonymous comments being stopped altogether.

James, while you are correct about the electrics being funded by PCC - they are also by CC, but only for 4 - however - the GCB ops have believe it or not been making more money than Plymouth - and Plymouths arm has been heavily reliant on BSIP. While the electrics certainly are not going anywhere (there's absolutely no support for them in Cornwall anyway) - Ops in Cornwall are - indeed more profitable.

    3. Where are you sources? How are they loss making? The face competition from practically no one for a lot of services! Stagecoach have grown, yes, but certainly not to the point where they threaten to put PCB into loss making territory.

    4. PCB made only 1% profit in 2024 even with government funding etc, according to official accounts. It is therefore very possible they are now in a loss. Remember they wanted to charge £3 single for m8st fares 12 month's ago and were forced to drop to £2.50 plus they openly admit electric buses are costing way more to run. If they were to face more competition from Stagecoach they really would be in trouble!

    5. Citybus is one of the worst perform8ng units of the GA bus empire to be fair and are making little profit at best. Can't really comment on GCB but of course they could lose a lot of that in 2027

    6. The comments from the user regarding Citybus closing is utter rubbish. The Electroliners MUST be with Plymouth, as that’s their charging hub. Citybus isn’t going anywhere as they’re investing so much lately into services, Cornwall is a bigger network and much more profitable, hence the gain in profit than Plymouth. Electroliners are joint owned by Citybus, PCC & CC.

    7. I highly doubt GCB will lose a lot of their routes in 2027, FirstBus is going and they’re taking on all of them and their customers! No other major company to compete with really other than Stagecoach, who i doubt will go deep into Cornwall and they simply don’t have enough decent buses to provide all the routes the GCB offers

    1. I don't think Cornwall will be going down that route, Cornwall Council and Go Cornwall Bus should be able to work together under existing partnership arrangements.

  9. Interesting isn’t it that such wild speculation exists, who makes up this nonsense?

    Early in my career a senior industrial person once told me that of all the speculation and rumour you might here 90% is rubbish and 10% might have some credibility.

    Everyone over looks the cost impact of disruption from roadworks and traffic generally. Disruptions discourage passengers meaning less revenue in the fare box. Journeys out of Plymouth through St Budeaux and Saltash simply shouldn’t take as long as they do at certain times. More time added ultimately means more resource to deliver the same service to the same number of passengers.
