When these came through this week I did wonder what was going on, but its looks likes they are tidying up a bit and closing down a few ‘event’ registrations that have been sitting there. No changes to the current Park & Ride services

  1. well, we're now well into November, and alas, the buses to replace the old E200s are nowhere to be seen. The news of BSIP to improve services has so far only seen a 30/31 introduced and well, to be honest, it's all looking a bit doom and gloom for GSW while GSC and GNW seem to be having the time of their lives!

    1. have to agree with that! i mean the ex EYMS e200's and all of the old scanias / 06/56 e400's are knackered.

    2. I cannot quite believe the citybus seem to think its okay carrying on like this. It's a shambles really

    3. Some of the buses look a wreck not only externally but also internally. There used to be a time where seats would be retrimed and buses generally looked a lot better. Sadly this doesnt seem to be the case now. Thats ok though because the moneys been spent elsewhere on new panes of branded glass and a sign above the office on Milehouse Road.it was slightly dissapointing to see given the dire condition of the ex Brighton omnidecker on the 34 which I was travelling on! Money being spent. There never used to be a sign above the door so thats questionable and the 6 panes replaced had Go South West on before they was replaced! Seems like a waste to me

    4. Yeah and the 30/31 is run by Stagecoach so literally nothing for GSW

    5. The less than ambitious BSIP schemes for Plymouth is hardly the fault of GSW. I believe there are other service improvements coming up on the new year but it remains to be seen how much of a difference they are. With both PCB and SC still cancelling services daily due to lack of drivers neither will be in a rush to take on new services anyway.

    6. When you say service improvements Graham - what do you mean?

    7. Plymouth City Council has a bid in for ZEBRA 2 funding (Zero Emission Bus Region Area, round 2). The awards will be announced in March so presumably PCB will hold off ordering anything until it knows whether the bid has been successful. Any order against an award must be made by January 2025. Cornwall, Devon and Torbay also have ZEBRA 2 bid in.

    8. Graham, i would hardly say the BSIP for Plymouth was "less than ambitious" - having a fleet of buses with an average age of 7 years, is actually very good, on top of multi-service multi-stop supports across main corridors of the city.

Out of curiosity - what is the average age of the PCB fleet - please don't include the GCB fleet - they do not count.

    9. Are the current MAN Gasbuses not considering zero emissions? I hate those buses with a passion though, I’d far rather take an E200

  2. History is clearly repeating itself, pcb are getting shafted just like first devon & Cornwall, won't be long before they shut down the plymouth operation

    1. I have been thinking that for past 12 months or so. It is First in Plymouth all over again. GA clearly aren't interested in Plymouth ops but probably can't find anyone willing to buy it! First at least managed to sell to Stagecoach, whom would buy PCB though! Could be a slow and painful death

    2. Well it’s a lack of drivers and people not using the bus still a good service compared to stagecoach where in saltash it’s completely awful especially evening s 2a gone and number 2 every hour if it turns up they send about 4 buses through Plym stock in the evening s every hour though as it’s so busy noootttt all they seemed to be interested in is Plym stock if anything I think stagecoach will be the next to go in Plymouth

  3. anyone see any poppies on the front of PCB/GCB buses? no me neither...

    1. At least Stagecoach had the respect to add them. Saw one on an E200 in new livery the other.

    2. Since when has it been compulsory to add poppies to buses? Some operators do but many dont. Hardly see any poppies on any vehicles these days. Its pretty rare to see anyone actually wearing a poppy. I haven't actually seen them on sale anywhere. I certainly dont see the lack of poppies as a lack of respect

    3. Glad to see it not me who thought there was a lack of poppy available.
On another note i notice the ex southampton citybus plaxton dart that was parked in honicknowle lane has turned up in milehouse

  4. Keep an eye out on the marketing material for Citybus - colour changes, different fonts, etc - it's possible it's just a Christmas thing, but the changes could be coming.

    1. Ex GAL E200s not required

    2. isn't one of them SN57 DWL? the one thats smashed? surely one of them could have been used?

      Delete
    3. Not required? Makes me laugh really, surely any bus we can get is required?

      Delete
    4. *Whether how useful or not it is, is a different story but we've already got 2x ex GAL E200's out running, and another one being the Chatterbus (whatever the hell that is!) , so why not have more? Our fleet is already shocking as is.

  6. Details of Plymouth BSIP+ & enhanced East West corridor proposals in new Buses mag just out I see
