Ok so its not as bad as the awful white based livery, but the yellow version is still a massive stepdown from the original Gold livery. It seems odd to have a special livery for a few routes, but then not mention the routes themselves on the buses. What's the point?

  1. in other areas they have done the route branding similar to the newer falcon.. but i do wonder if they never did it on our gold buses as it was not going to stay as a GOLD route number and become similar to the X38? or they just didnt bother to brand it... i still prefer out of these the older new gold livery done in the way of local livery where it goes around the back

    1. What I would do if I were in charge:
      - Reduce Gold to hourly but extend back through to Torquay again.
      - Increase the X38 to hourly, co-ordinated with Gold to maintain a half-hourly frequency between Plymouth, Ivybridge and South Brent.
      - Extend the 88 to Paignton via Higher Westonfields in both directions, to restore links and maintain 2 buses an hour between Totnes and Paignton. Daytime Gold would stlll operate via Bridgetown Hill but evening/Sunday buses would operate via Higher Westonfields.

    2. While I agree with you about reducing the Gold to hourly and definitely agree about extending back to Torquay, I personally would not extend the 88 to Paignton. I’d extend the 7 - that way it would provide links to Ipplepen and Kingsteignton, as well as Exeter. But that’s just my view.

  2. I agree with you re the liveries Graham. The white based one is awful. The original Gold looked classy, the yellow one is average. Around Exeter they use the yellow buses very randomly across different routes, so you do have to wonder what the point is. And I wonder how much they paid some marketing expert to think it up!

    1. Their whole brand is a mess, the new interiors are more a copy of First bus with blue bits, yet it doesn't match the exterior apart from the grab poles. Also green and yellow have never been part of the Stagecoach brand so why change it after 40 or so years?
