    1. The older buses coming back into service is a temporary measure due to delay in getting the new buses and also needing more buses for schools. It remains to be seen how the new buses are being split between Plymouth and Cornwall fleets, but even if most end up in Cornwall we will be getting back some of the Enviro double deckers for Plymouth service. At the end of the day the combined Citybus / TFC fleet will be a lot newer than it was.

  2. Aren't most of the 2001-2005 vehicles now all gone, only a handful still around due to the current situation? 2006 buses are getting on a bit but still have a few years left in them.

  3. We went to Plymouth last week and were pleasantly surprised to ride on one of Plymouth City Bus partial open top buses (468) on Route 25 which passes the Barbican and Hoe. The Ocean City Heights sightseeing tour is not running this year but the 25 is just as good and you can use Senior Concession passes on them. It was very popular and local passengers rode downstairs and others like us upstairs. I'm no expert but the cost of running a double deck on the route is probably not much more than a single decker but will increase revenue because of the extra passengers

    1. Bring back First I say They are doing good job in Cornwall . Perhaps we could have First and Stagecoach in Plymouth as GA seem to treat Plymouth as the lower end of their empire. First seem to have interest in SW again now

  5. What a ridiculous comment. Go Ahead won the tender for TFC and placed an order for a fleet of brand new buses. Then we are hit with covid-19 and lock down, meaning a lengthy delay on delivery of said buses. We come out of lock down, services return, schools go back and PCB/GoSW are struggling for buses to run full timetables for Plymouth, Cornwall and school services (dropped by Stagecoach!) Hence why we have so many buses from sister fleets. So what the buses might be old,but I would rather have an older bus for now than none at all. PS Go SW still has one of the most modern fleets in the country.

So many of the current comments about Plymouth CityBus and Transport for Cornwall seem to be based on ignorance and prejudice and show no sign whatsoever of wanting to understand the current situation. The UK has gone through one of the most disruptive events since the Second World War for [expletive deleted] sake.

    2. Without covid TfC would have gone down in flames as it only barely survived because covid led to huge service reductions which TfC only just managed to cover. If a full service had been needed TfC would have been massively short if both drivers and buses. TfC owe their survival to covid. Cornwall CC got bloody lucky with Covid as the start of TfC would have been a national shambles. It still is a basket case, they can ever put up his stop flags correctly, let alone run buses on time. If TfC were a new company card enough but Go Ahead should have foreseen all the issues, particularly the joke that the new buses cant use the Torpoint ferry due to overhang issues. It's not rocket science but TfC make it seem it is. First were a basket case in Plymouth but TfC and PCB are not much better.

    3. I'm neutral but there do seem to be some bitter anti-Citybus & TfC people posting complete rubbish online. Many obviously posted by First Kernow drivers with some kind of grudge!

  8. To be totally fair here I have watched two of the new double deckers go on and off the ferry with no issues whatsoever.

    1. The issues were on a very low tide - but these buses were supplied from stock so wont have been delivered with the necessary modifications - I am sure these will be sorted out pretty quickly, they have only been here a week or so and the workshops have a lot to do at the moment! As others have mentioned - these buses are getting on and off the ferrys most of the time with no isses.

  11. So the new 70 plate deckers for TfC do not have the promised USB ports or wifi. So these minimal spec new buses have replaced almost new high spec Kernow buses...how is that an improvement for passengers that was promised.

You could give them the 20 plates being dealer stock but not the 70 plates. To be clear, what exactly have TfC brought to the plate as its certainly not any of the improvements Cornwall Council promised. It's not a grudge, it's just immense disappointment at such a missed opportunity. Also, if I buy a day ticket for Zone 4 in Plymouth I can use it in Cornwall and Plymouth but the Cornwall day ticket is not valid in Plymouth, despite being the same price. Not sure what is sold on the 11 for example as I assume you can by a zone 4 pass as far as the Tamar Bridge but on,y the Cornwall version the other side, which then can't be used in Plymouth? Or can you buy a Zone 4 pass anywhere in Cornwall, in which case what's the point of the Cornwall only ticket? How can such a large company be so inept. Reminds me of similar issues between Damory, Salisbury Reds and More when W&D was split so i guess they do have history.
