Citybus Increase Services with some guests

Bus services in Plymouth are set to double on the 31st May as part of our continued effort to aid social distancing for those who need to make journeys by bus.

As more and more people return to work, the Citybus network in Plymouth will be at 80% of the capacity it was pre COVID. Main routes, including those to hospitals will be brought back to 100%.

We have set up a handy ‘Making travel Safer’ guide here (https://www.plymouthbus.co.uk/news-service-updates/making-travel-safer/), outlining key messages and government advise. You will also see this messaging at bus stops and on buses.

To maximise coverage, we have also taken this opportunity to re route some services. These are services 35, 40/41, 61/62. New maps can be found under each of these routes on the timetables page of our site.

Due to the ever-changing landscape we will not be installing timetable departure times at bus stops. Our app will show live and planned departures, plus stops with real time displays will show when buses are due. Our website also has all timetables published.

You may see some loan buses from our sister companies running our services, as we utilise all we can to get more capacity on the roads.

  1. Great to see things starting back up again! Interesting move on the 62 seeing as the diversion doesn’t seem to make up for a service operated by PCB that isn’t running, also seems like quite a coverage cut for 61/62 on services that don’t cover Transit Way.
I use this Tesco and though it can be busy, given the restrictions on the number of people in the store and therefore leaving the store at the same time, it seems to me like there is no need to withdraw on a peak anymore.

  2. Interesting changes, particularly the 84/85 staying put with the 81/2/3 being dropped. Better routes for me anyways though I dislike having only the one service in the evening which would make it impossible to get home if I still had a job.

  3. 526 was on the 20A today. often a double decker at the moment (the last week or so), but not usually a yellow one (recent ones include 504, 462, 533 and 519)
