Stagecoach Consultation

Stagecoach have published their Route Consultation Plan for 2020:

Welcome to the Route Consultation Plan for 2020 where we set out our plans for the coming year ahead. This document is our second Consultation Plan following the successful launch of the 2019 plan last year.

Through this consultation process, we have shown our commitment to work with key stakeholders such as Devon County Council, other main local authorities and employers in order to shape the bus network in a way that encourages modal shift, social inclusion and makes the bus a viable alternative to the private car.

This year we again look forward to allowing stakeholders, employers and members of the general public another opportunity to actively participate in the planning process for all Stagecoach routes in the South West through comments, suggestions and feedback on the proposed changes to the network.

There is not a lot listed for Plymouth as they don't run a lot here but there are a couple of points of interest to me at least

RouteConsultation_2020-7

The 100/101 potential for all journeys to serve Mutley Plain which is quite a challenge to the 42s of Plymouth Citybus. Presumably Milehouse will be served by another route instead? Certainly one to look out for over the coming months.

The other is the continuing decline of the once mighty X38 in deference to the less convenient Falcon (for Exeter City Centre at least).

You can view the 2020 plan here. As always with these consultations please make the effort to view the full document and send your comments in to Stagecoach – and of course feel free to add any comments you may have here as well! Am I the only one to mourn the decline of the X38?

  1. If they run 100/101 along Mannamead Road corridor through Mutley ..combined with the 1 they will have service every 7 mins through the day and would be huge competition for Citybus a long thus route

    1. Yes indeed, appears to be Stagecoach flexing its muscles in Plymouth perhaps seeing it as retaliation for Citybus entering George P+R-City Centre market after Stagecoach increased its Derriford-City Centre frequency from half-hourly to every 7 or 8 min off-peak a while back!!!

  2. I look forwards to the new livery! Will be a facinating change from the usual Beachball livery, I am especially anticipating the changes to the Gold.

As for the 100/101 I hope they don't replace the P&R route at Milehouse if they do remove it from there...

    1. Gold is going altogether across the Stagecoach company I heard it's red for city services, purple inter urban and green park and ride

    2. Gold does appear to be dropped going by the fact witneys new buses are in swoops. Ive seen pics of a green livery on a few buses some from photos taken
inside wigan depot and have heard 21204 at fenstanton been repainted into a green livery

    3. That was the original rumor, Stagecoach then decided to pause for a year to rethink, the Gold branding is extremely popular and brings in a lot of extra income to Stagecoach i doubt they'd want to axe it.

Personally i'm not looking forward to the re branding, I've seen the new interior i'd looks dull.

    4. By my reckoning Gold should be due for new buses this Autumn, as most of the existing fleet will be seven years old by then. It will be interesting to see what materialises .....

    5. Wouldent it make the p&r site at milehouse pointless?

    6. Surely they would Put replacement service on Milehouse p+r. Perhaps 200 cross city...Coypool-city-Milehouse?

  3. If Gold branding is indeed on its way out, I wonder if we will see a return to the ‘X80’ route number in place of Stagecoach service Gold to Paignton and Torquay!

Will certainly make things a bit more confusing in Plymouth if it is a version of all over red!

  5. Oh wow, a red bus - there's a novelty! Hopefully they'll be distinguishable from a CityBus in some way, in the dark, rain lashing down, and so on .....

    1. They'll be distinguishable as they won't be so drab/boring like the citybus livery

    2. If the final livery comes out as people expect then a red version will be pretty distinguishable from the city bus red livery. Sound like a all over green livery is on the cards which will be a step down from what they have now.

  6. As "Anon 25/1 0813" above and some others have said, the only pictures so far of SC's new(?) livery have shown a rather nice all-over mint green paintjob. Fbb of Public Transport Experience" (well worth a read, by the way) doesn't seem to like it, but I do: of course it may not be what we finally get, and may even be a green herring(!), but it's different and quite pleasant-looking, I believe.

  7. Stagecoach have ditched the Red in favour of a new Blue Green and Orange beach ball. Looks very nice.

  8. So now we know - basically white with pastel colours. Yes, I agree, Ant, it looks very nice, but as Focus Transport says, it needs keeping clean. Locally at least, SC are good in that respect. Looks as though Gold has definitely gone, though.
