Snow

The end of last week was dominated by the weather - which had a big effect on the local bus services

Plymouth Citybus

31 Jan

15:29 Snow is now falling heavily in North Cornwall buses are stuck in snow around Wadebridge on the 11a service it is unlikely we will be serving beyond Bodmin this evening, Callywith buses are also experiencing problems. Service 12B between Bude and Launceston is running at present.

15:41 CORNWALL PASSENGERS: Snow is now falling heavily in North Cornwall. Callywith College services are experiencing some disruption. 11A service has been suspended. 11 will terminate at Liskeard. Passengers travelling on this service might see delays due to the severe weather, we apologise for any inconvenience. 12B is running at present but we are monitoring the situation. PLYMOUTH PASSENGERS: Due to snow in Cornwall service 11 will be experiencing some disruption. All Plymouth services are running as normal and at present, we are not expecting any poor weather disruption. Please keep checking back here and be safe if you are in areas hit by snow.

15:44 Service 12B is suspended due to snow in North Cornwall. Service 12 will now terminate at Launceston.

16:08 SERVICE 12 will not be serving Stoke Climsland. Unfortunately we are now unable to service this area due to the severe weather.

16:14 SERVICES 72, 73 and 74 are now suspended due to the severe weather in Cornwall. The 1620 service 72 from Royal Parade will run as far as Trerulefoot currently, although we are monitoring the roads as the weather in Cornwall worsens SERVICES 72, 73 and 74 are now suspended due to the severe weather in Cornwall.

16:17 RAME PENINSULA: It looks as though the severe weather is heading this way. We are currently monitoring services but it is looking likely that we will have to suspend services through this area. Please keep checking here for updates and only travel to/from this area if necessary.

16:22 Service 12A will not be serving St Dominic or Ashton due to severe weather. If you are travelling to/from Cornwall, please only travel if necessary and stay safe.

16:41 Looe, Liskeard, Callington school buses have picked children up however we are experiencing high levels of disruption due to the snow. Our plan is to stay put as we are anticipating the weather will clear within 2 hours. We will continue journeys as soon as it is safe to do so. SERVICE 12: Will now terminate at Hatt due to the snow.

17:25 SERVICE 42C: Will now be turning at the bottom of Woolwell roundabout as road conditions further on are too treacherous for us to pass. All other Plymouth services currently running as normal.

17:34 SERVICE 33: Will not service Morley Avenue or Station Road due to adverse weather conditions meaning the roads are unsafe. It will now service Royal Navy Avenue > Henderson Place > Wolesely Road.

17:35 SERVICE 35: Will now operate as a 35A, due to poor road conditions in Ham as a result of the severe weather.

17:40 PR3: Will not be serving Plymouth Marjon University. It will only be serving the main road

17:47 SERVICE 61/61: Will not service Peverell Park Road, St Pancras road (due to an RTC) or Transit Way.

SERVICE 70: Will terminate at HMS Raleigh.

As of 17:50, all other Plymouth services are running as normal. We will continue to update our social media feeds as the evening progresses, you can find a Twitter update feed to the right of this page. 

School services throughout Cornwall have unfortunately been affected by the snow. Update as of 16:45:

Looe, Liskeard and Callington school buses have picked children up however we are experiencing high levels of disruption due to roads being affected by the snow. Our plan is to stay put as we are anticipating the weather will clear and improve within the next 2 hours. We will continue journeys as soon as it is safe to do so on the roads.

Callywith College is keeping students inside the building with access to refreshments. We are working to try and get our buses to the college. As soon as the roads are passable our buses will resume service and bring students home.

06:02 Good morning Plymouth, we are working hard to get our services out on the road and at this time all of our Plymouth services should run as normal with a few exceptions. In Cornwall we are currently running the 12 to Callington, 11 to Liskeard and all Rame services as normal.

06:06 Service Update: 33 - not serving Station Road and Warleigh Avenue in Keyham, 40/41/42A - not servicing Dunnet Road, operating via Southway Drive and Clittaford Road. 42C - serving as far as Woolwell roundabout, 27/A/B - not serving Deer Park. Service Update: Service 44A - is not servicing Holly Park, Service 48 - is not servicing Wembury, terminating at Elburton, PR3 is running as normal from George Park & Ride to Derriford Hospital, but will not be going in to Marjons car park. Service Update: 104 - to Plymouth will not be servicing Whitchurch or Rock Shelter, 105 - will not be servicing Horrabridge. Service Update: 79/79A - are now running from Callington to Tavistock, but they will be sticking to the main roads only.

Service 12 is unable to serve Hatt Bus Shelter due to ice, drivers have been instructed to board passengers from the main road where safe to do so. ll Rame service are now operating as normal. The 69/70/A/B are all in service although they may be running a little late. Service Update: The Service 12 is currently operating as normal between Plymouth and Callington, but we are nuable to serve Callington Road due to ice. Please catch your service from Saltash Road.

08:08 Service Update: We apologise, but one of our school buses from Millbrook to Torpoint College did not service Millbrook. The other bus is on it's way to the school and will return to Millbrook to take the rest of the pupils to school. We are currently informing the school.

08:17 Service Update: Service 12A - is in service, but is unable to serve St Dominick, Beech Close or Lower Downgate. It will be terminating in Callington and will not be serving new Road.

08:59 Service Update: Service 12 - is now servicing as far as Launceston, Pennygillam Roundabout as conditions in Westgate Street are hazardous. We are still unable to serve Stoke Climsland. We will update should service resume to Bude.

12:03 Due to an RTC between Kelly Bray and Callington where a telegraph pole is hanging over the road the service 12 is not how having to terminate at Callington as the road is impassable to larger vehicles until made safe. Sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.

First Kernow

31 Jan

14:30 The 14.30 47 service from Troon, cannot currently get up the hill to Troon due to the road being blocked by cars stuck in the snow, so unfortunately will not be able to serve Troon.

15:35 We currently have buses stuck in the snow all across the region from Bodmin, Bude, Newquay and Truro and everywhere in between. Please be aware we will have to stop services between Newquay and Truro due to these conditions

15:44 The U2 service has just left Redruth station where it had been stuck due to snow and is now heading back towards Falmouth. We apologise for the delay but this has been due to weather conditions out of our control (PS)

21:45 We sorry that we have had to withdraw all services from the Newquay Area tonight solely because of the icy road conditions.

1st Feb

05:58 We are currently not running any services in the East of the county. i.e Newquay, Bodmin, St Austell and Truro. We will update at 08:00.

East of Truro Services

Routes to the East of Truro are being assessed to see if we can recommence operations. If and when each route recommences it is likely that they will have to remain on principal roads. Please wait for information.

In addition to assessing conditions on each route, we are having to prioritise the recovery of both drivers, and vehicles from a significant number of locations across East Cornwall.

Our operational priority is to provide transport for Cornwall College which has in the region of 200 students still on site. Buses are working their way to the college.

 

11:37 Update to Services in the East due to Icy conditions. We are only running 27's between St Austell and Truro both directions. 30 service is running but not serving Killyvarder Way, 101 service is not running, 21 service will not serve the clay villages but will go direct from high street to Fraddon, in both directions. 22 service will operate direct to St Stephen from St Austell then go direct to Grampound Road, missing Probus and into Truro. 24 St Austell to Mevagissey as normal. 25 service as normal but not serving Duporth. 24 as normal but not St Marys Road. 87 service unable to serve Crantock Gardens, Holywell bay or Treloggan. 91 and 93 unable to serve Trispen or Mitchell, 93 cannot serve St Columb Major to Newquay holiday park.We are currently assessing the 95 Wadebridge to Truro route. Will keep you updated. Expect delays.

Stagecoach

30 Jan

0640 Okehampton to Exeter will be delayed due to weather conditions. 0650 5a and 0634 75a at Meeth unable to get to Hatherleigh. Due to weather conditions around #Okehampton service 6,6a and 75a suffering long delays. Our apologies, due to the road conditions in Chumleigh the 07:10 towards Exeter hasn't run through Chawleigh or Lapford, sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Exeter - 5A Services will only be able to run Exeter - Hatherleigh, we are unable to serve Okehampton at this moment. Due to snow & vehicles blocking the road. Exeter - '5C Services are unable to serve Chawleigh & Lapford village due to weather conditions. Services will be running A377 to Chumleigh. Exeter - Due to road conditions and closures in and around the Okehampton area the '5A' Service is currently unable to Server between Hatherleigh and Okehampton. 75A 0926 Londonderry Farm - Okehampton will not operate due to adverse weather conditions. 72 1013 Shebbear - Barnstaple will not operate due to adverse weather

We are beginning to be affected by snow in the Hartland area, the A39 is currently at a standstill affecting the 319 service toward Hartland. 16:59 5A' Services can no longer serve Okehampton, services will be terminating @ Hatherleigh! 17:43 Barnstaple Services 5B, 6, 6A, 319, 219, suffering with delays due to adverse weather conditions. Sorry for any inconvenience 18:07 Due to adverse weather conditions, The 9 services are unable to serve Honiton from Sidmouth they will be terminating at Sidbury church, We are sorry for the inconvenience.  18:18 Snowfall in Mutley all the way up to Roborough Roundabout is causing delays to our Services. Some routes can only be served along the Main roads.

1827 Holsworthy - Exeter & 2015 Exeter - Bude will not operate due to adverse weather. Due to adverse weather conditions, The P service will be unable to serve Stoke valley road and pensylvannia area, Services will be terminating at Stoke arms roundabout. Due to adverse weather conditions, The A service will be unable to serve Thornpark rise, Services will be terminating at Dawson Roundabout. Due to adverse weather conditions, The H service is unable to serve the Hospital, they will be stopping on Barrack road and boovemoors lane. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Due to adverse weather conditions, the D service is unable to serve the University, Buses will be terminating at the clock tower. '57' Services can only serve as far as Exmouth Parade. Due to adverse weather conditions, The 1 services are unable to serve Bradnich, Vehicles will be main road through to cullumpton, We are sorry for the inconvenience,

16:47 Due to adverse weather conditions, The 155 service will be running down the Link road from south molton, and into Tiverton and then Back via the M5 Services 6 & 6A are not currently operating due to adverse weather. Due to adverse weather conditions, Services 98 / 357 / 157 will be terminating service as of 19:00, Due to adverse weather conditions, 56 service will be running Airport only, we are sorry for the inconvenience.

Exeter @ 19:30 Rural Services From Exeter will be Terminating due to the weather conditions & the safety of our customers! Due to adverse weather conditions the Gold service has been suspended. Due to adverse weather conditions service 39 has been suspended.

Torquay We are expecting to be able to operate normal services on Friday 1st February, however updates will appear should there be any further snow or ice problems

1st Feb

Our Plymouth services are currently scheduled to operate as normal, but please plan for unanticipated disruption and remaining ice causing delays. We do not currently expect any diversions but check back for updates. Our services from Tavistock and Dartmouth are scheduled to operate as normal. Due to safety concerns, the 0705 5A from Okehampton to Exeter is not running. Due To the affects of the snow, the 06:50 off Hatherleigh will be Starting its Route from North Tawton if possible. Sorry for the inconvenience. Service 4 - operating via main roads only. Exeter - Service 20 cancelled Exeter - Service 157 - operating by main road only

Due to the route being affected by the bad snow from yesterday pm through to early morning the 6 services are severely delayed. The 5:45, 6:20 and the 8:03 6/6A services from Bude to Exeter are not running. Sorry for the inconvenience. Service P currently cancelled due to road conditions. Service 4 - The following services are not operating as a result of the weather 0635 Wilmington to Honiton, 0710 Honiton to Exeter, 0618 Wilmington to Honiton, 0637 Honiton to Exeter, 0747 Wilmington to Exeter. All other 4 services are operating.

09:00 Currently a reduced service on Route 6 0850 Bude to Exeter wil not operate 0930 Okehampton to Exeter will not operate. 1015 6A From Launceston is operating 1320 From Bude is operating

Service 4 - Reduced service, the "4A" will be taking the same route as the 4 and the following journeys will not operate 0637 4B Honiton to Exeter, 0759 4B Honiton to Exeter. Service 5A - Running from Exeter to Crediton only Service 20 - Cancelled Service 55 operating as normal, the "55A" and "55B" will be able to serve Silverton Square only. Service 157 - Operating by main roads only Service P - Cancelled owing to road conditions and an abandoned car at Pennsylvania All other services operating.

Barnstaple 219 service is running along the main road at certain points due to severe ice in rural areas.

Stagecoach Falcon

31 Jan

Haldon Hill is now closed southbound. Expect severe delays to Falcon as diversions are unsafe. Northbound services from Plymouth currently unaffected but may be delayed later due to coaches being unavailable. Haldon Hill is now closed in both directions. The Falcon service is currently suspended. Services leaving Plymouth will terminate at Drumbridges until further notice with no more departures from Exeter. The 2000 from Bristol is running with 45 minutes delay.

21:18 Please note that due to weather conditions in Devon there will be no further departures from Bristol this evening. We expect the service to be up and running early tomorrow morning however please check back for updates

23:41 Service will resume on the falcon shortly, we will run the 23:00 service from Plymouth 1 hour late at 00:00 then subsequent services will run on time as long as the roads stay clear.

1st Feb

Service is resuming on the Falcon the first service to leave Bristol will be at Approximately 04:00 I will update later for a more accurate time as the road conditions dictate. 05:33 Falcon services are currently operating as scheduled from Plymouth, with departures from Bristol being at 0400, the 0530 will be approximately 45 minutes late, then running normally from 0630. There may be delays as drivers take greater care. the 07:50 Plymouth to Bristol is currently running late due to the current road conditions

Dartline Coaches

30 Jan

**118 service** This service is hopefully going to start again with the 1100 from Tavistock and 1024 from Okehampton - but this is subject to our checking the roads on our way through UPDATE: we will not be travelling in to Brentor, so main road and down into Lydford to turn at the memorial.

**173 service ** This service will not be running through Drewsteignton due to the weather conditions today. We will review this as the day progresses. UPDATE the 173 in now not servicing Drewsteignton, Chagford town or Moretonhampstead.

**KI011** Unfortunately we will not be running this run this morning, due to the road conditions. We will make a decision regarding the pm run later in the day as weather develops.

**369 service** This service is running late this morning due to the road conditions in the lanes. Due to the icy roads, the bus will not be servicing New Buildings or West Sandford, and the only pick up in Sandford will be at Mill Lane.

**173** The bus is currently stuck on ice before Drewsteignton village. We do not know how long it will before before it can move. However it will then return down to Sandy Park and drive round to Whiddon Down & not service Drewsteignton.

1st Feb

The following services will not be starting before 9am due to the current weather conditions and our staff needing to get in to work and then out to the start of their journeys. Updates to follow at about 8.30am on Friday. 173 Chagford to Exeter 118 Okehampton to Tavistock 369 Morchard to Exeter.

** Honiton Town Service & Hon8 ** Service not running this morning due to the effects of the weather.

The 08:00 M6 service from London to Plymouth has departed approx. 20 minutes late. Stops affected: Bristol UWE: 10:30 Bristol: 11:00 Exeter: 13:05 Plymouth Uni: 14:05 Plymouth: 14:25

M6 01:00 Plymouth to London passengers will be uplifted by the Falcon 01:15 service from Plymouth and transferred at Exeter, please note Falcon service will be departing 60 mins late from Plymouth. M6 01:00 Plymouth to London service has departed Exeter 70 mins late, stops affected are, Bristol 04:10 Bristol UWE 04:25 London 07:00

National Express

The 315 service due to depart from Helston at 06:50 will now be starting its route from Plymouth due to the severe weather conditions. Customers who are due to board at: Helston, Falmouth, Penryn, Truro, Tresillian, Probus, Grampound, St Austell, Holmbush St Blazey Gate, St Blazey, Lostwithiel, East Taphouse, Liskeard, Tideford, Landrake, Burraton Cross and Saltash are asked to make their way to Plymouth Coach Station, Armada Way, to board your coach which will depart at 10:10.

The 504 service due to depart from Penzance at 04:00 will now be starting its route from Plymouth due to the severe weather conditions. Customers who are due to board at: Penzance, Crowlas, St Erth, Hayle, Copperhouse, Camborne, Pool, Redruth, Truro Tresillian, Grampound, St Austell, St Blazey Gate, St Blazey, Lostwithiel, East Taphouse, Liskeard, Tideford, Landrake, Burraton Cross and Saltash are asked to make their way to Plymouth Coach Station, Armada Way, to board your coach which will depart at 07:05

The 504 service due to depart from Penzance at 06:20 will now be starting its route from Plymouth due to the severe weather conditions. Customers who are due to board at: Penzance, Crowlas, St Erth, Hayle, Copperhouse, Camborne, Pool, Redruth, Newquay Newquay (Porth Four Turns), St Columb Minor, St Columb Major, Wadebridge, Bodmin (Chy Trevail), Bodmin are asked to make their way to Plymouth Coach Station, Armada Way, to board your coach which will depart at 10:00

Until further notice all services travelling to and from Cornwall will start and terminate at Plymouth Coach Station.

  1. Off topic, but just to say 514 is definately in swoops now and I am pretty sure 503 is too, although this seems to have been a very quick turn around, in the light of a bus stop in the dark yesterday I am pretty sure it was LZC on the end of the plate and in swoops. It was on a 21.

  2. I think I got 503 misread in the dark the other day, 503 definately still in Red Flash, I think it must have been 536 having a change of scenery on 21 the other day, last to letters of the reg plate are the same
