Citybus Sparkles in the sunshine

There was only one subject for todays blog post: Yesterday saw the first public viewing of the new SPARK bus which enters service from this coming weekend. So fort those who were not able to see the new bus in the flesh here is just a selection of photos:

Thanks to Richard and Lauren for their photos too.

It is sadly clear that not all will be delivered in time for the launch but these buses will certainly turn heads. I had several random people approach me (when they saw me taking photos of other buses) to tell me about the posh new bus in town. To quote one ‘young’ gentleman

“too bleddy posh for Plymouth!”

  1. There was another news item actually. Former PCTPG open-topper 182 has been painted into Trent livery and very smart it looks too.

  3. now time for Stagecoach 400MMCs vs Citybus CityMMCs who will, well citybus for looks, USB charging, Wifi while stagecoach have fares and nice park and ride buses, and target good fares, not so good buses says the driver in town. after all of this i still say SPARK nice and Redflash is not really a upgrade as the old blue double decks was newer before they replaced them lol

  4. Nice to see continued investment from Go-Ahead. With the slow trickle down effect of newer buses onto the routes in Cornwall. Maybe a bus company will finally realise that you put on a more reliable service more people will consider and possibly use the service provided.

Only concern is that in order to keep fares in the city lower, the rest of us will be faced with price hikes yet again. Even though continued investment should be factored into the price already paid.

  5. Those windows above the back seats on the upper deck are ripe for getting bricked etc.......

  7. How many are ready to hit the streets this weekend or will it be another long drawn out introduction like the gas buses?

  8. They will certainly turn heads - especially if a young lady in a mini-skirt is climbing the stairs. Or were they designed in Scotland to reveal once and for all what a Scotsman really wears under his kilt?

I am not sure that the black and red seating is the most welcoming sort of colour - perhaps grey would have been a bot less 'heavy'. Nevertheless, a good-looking bus overall - I hope the passengers look after them.
