Well that was a weekend to remember. Western National / First Devon, Plymouth Torpoint and Tavistock are no more. Stagecoach are now running the street of Plymouth, albeit on just a few routes (at the moment). The official send off was an excellent Celebration of the Buses of Plymouth. Here are just a few photos of the day from me as a taster:

This week is going to very much a photo special with lots more photos from the weekend, the last few days of First and also the first few days of Stagecoach. With the whole new Stagecoach fleet incoming we will have a lot to cover. Any word yet on any changes to Megabus and whether it is Plymouth depot taking over the Hamilton-Gray Megabus workings?
ReplyDeleteIve not heard anything more other than Plymouth is taking over the HG Megabus workings. I believe they are waiting until new coaches get delivered later this year?

How do you get to around 22 when it is 17. Of the 17 left there after the closure of South Devon one is a Kernow double Deck actually working from there on a Truro College contract. There are a further 13 deckers, 2 of which are from Buses of Somerset and 11 of which came from Kernow. they are not likely to be there for long at all. There were three singles left there. One was a Dart that was blocked in that has probably now been retrieved from the depot and taken to Cornwall for storage. One was a B6 that is awaiting collection by its new enthusiast owner. The other is a Dart that broke down in Saltash on Friday and was towed there. That is likely to go soon too. What's the relevance of the gates being locked? Every part of your barely understandable post was garbage.
DeleteVehicle news: in addition to the buses already mentioned Stagecoach 17055 and 34609/10/12/13/14/684 at least are also working from Plymouth. Interestingly the First loaned vehicles have been renumbered. Noted so far 18532/33/34/35 ex First 33760/61/62/33172, 19707/08/09 ex First 33420/21/22 and 21097/98 ex First 60917/18
ReplyDeleteStored at First Torpoint Depot today are:34063/64/192/193/194/195/196/197/198/199/200/259/261/42841 and 48264 with another 15 expected.
Expected by who? There are no more vehicles heading to Torpoint. The storage areas are all in Cornwall and they have plenty of room remaining for the vehicles that are now being displaced from Kernow.
DeleteThe long term loans from First to stagecoach consist of 12 vehicles, including two non Park and Ride deckers.
There are a further four Hong Kong Darts that Stagecoach asked First to leave with them short term to assist with vehicle availability.
the 34192-34200 batch have been working in Cornwall for sometime now (and before that worked in Plymouth). At least one of them I think was withdrawn a while ago (34195 i think), so guess they are all withdrawn now, ad they were originally N-reg buses before being registers with different plates
