B6 goes Retro

‘The Plymouth City Transport Preservation Group’s Sales Bus (Ex Plymouth Citybus Volvo B6 M52HOD) has after many months of planning finally been repainted into a corporate livery inspired by the Leyland Nationals. A high level of attention to detail is evident throughout, including the coat of arms on the nearside corner, and the black line separating out the red and the cream. The last few details such as fleet numbers and registration plates await fitting on Friday before its first outing as a private hire vehicle to Diabetes UK at the Life Centre on Saturday, and the Driver of the Year competition at Milehouse on Sunday. For more information on the group, how to join, or what we get up to, then please visit our website www.plymouthcitytransport.co.uk or follow us on Twitter @PCTPG’. Party Time at the Ffestiniog The early days of preservation of the Talyllyn Railway were chronicled in L.T.C. Rolt's classic 'Railway Adventure' and in order to celebrate their own 60th anniversary in preservation the Ffestiniog slightly cheekily named their May Bank Holiday weekend event "Our Railway Adventure".
‘Scene’ at Sherringham I recently had a day out on the North Norfolk Railway (NNR) which runs from Sheringham via Weybourne to Holt. (A further ‘blog’ will appear in due course). The day was a father’s day outing paid for by my son Andrew and his wife Joy.
Life on the Buses With this post the Fylde Bus Blog has reached its 500th. I started the blog in April 2009 with 74 posts that year, 85 in 2010, 124 in 2011 and 136 in 2012.Stuck for a suitable topic, I thought I'd indulge and post about myself. Or more specifically the year and a half I spent working at Blackpool Transport.

A Grand Day Out – Taking the Boris Bikes to Paris One person with two tickets is a waste, so I was joined by fellow blogger (and French speaker), Tom for the day out, on a mission to take the Boris Bikes to Paris, take photos in suitably Parisian locations, and return them back to London on the same day. See the largest ever collection of Routmaster buses this weekend What is said to be the largest ever display of heritage Routemaster buses takes place this weekend at Finsbury Park
four days by bus from Land's End to John O'Groats A 16-year-old schoolboy has broken the record for the fastest journey from Land's End to John O'Groats - by public bus. Adam Mugliston spent four days and £170 on tickets travelling 1,167 miles on 36 different buses to beat the previous record by nearly a day.
Continuing Consideration of Cornwall [8] It clearly carried some railway infrastructure over Glenfeadon Terrace. Unless the line was operated by a hitherto unrecorded rack and pinion system, this must have been a rope worked freight incline, not a busy passenger branch It's All Happening (well it was on Saturday 5th) This is Axminster looking "up", i.e. towards London. The train in the picture is going "down", i.e. towards Exeter. All very logical and traditional. But, for the forseeable future, not any longer at Axminster. Apparently the super smashing electronic signalling kit has thrown a wobbly and no-one can sort the computer out.
