An invitation from Plymouth Citybus

Well it hasnt been easy especially as one or two of the new buses have been out and about around the city bus the official launch is to happen next Monday – and enthusiasts are invited:

We have the Hoe promenade booked from 1000 next Monday 2nd April for the launch of the new Plymouth Citybus Wright Volvo Eclipse vehicles.

All enthusiasts are welcome to attend to get their pictures of the “virgin” buses so to speak.

Once the official launch and pictures are taken then the buses will be rolled out onto our service 43, enabling enthusiasts to get pictures of at least seven of the ten in service on the same day.

I will be happy to give enthusiasts a ride around the City on one of the buses before it enters service.

I am extremely grateful to all of the local enthusiasts who have honoured our request not to publish pictures of the buses before the official launch and would ask that this request continues to be honoured until next Monday.

Brian George Plymouth Citybus.

Assuming my boss is in a good mood and lets me have the morning off on one of the busiest days of the month at the start of the new financial year(!) then I for one shall be there.

  1. What a lovely gesture! I don't know of any other company who would do that!

Unfortunately I won't be there as I'm seeing some of my family on the other side of the country, but I look forward to seeing photos of them on The Hoe.

I assume the other 2/3 vehicles will end up on the 21, though they could do a 'circular' of all routes letting all passengers have a ride on them, but we'll have to wait and see!

It's great to see Citybus investing such a significant amount in such difficult economic times, and I'm sure these vehicles will have a big impact on Plymouth; I can't wait to see them!

On a slightly different note though, will all N-reg's be withdrawn on April 2nd, or will they be kept for a bit longer? If anyone knows the answer to that I would be very interested to hear it!

  2. It is good of Citybus. Having spent the day in A&E its not looking good for me getting there either at the moment.

As far as I know most of the N reg Darts are going but possibly also the 3 Oxford dual door Darts so 3 N reg would stay on.

As always I guess we need to wait and see!

  3. The 3 Oxford Darts are horrid! Absolutely gutless, cramped, hot, noisy, ugly, I certainly won't be sad to see the back of them if they go.

I've just done a check and all the N-reg Darts road taxes are all due on June 1st so I'll keep an eye on this.
214 (R401FFC)s tax is also due on June 1st, 215 (R402FFC) and 216 (R408FFC)s tax are both due on October 1st, so it could be all 10-reg SLFs will go along with 214? We'll have to wait and see!

Anyway, sorry to hear that you've spent the day in A&E Graham, I hope you make a speedy recovery. Remember, getting better should be a higher priority than blogging for 'geeks' like us!
