To address the fleet's historical reputation for unreliability, a £75 million Technical Support and Spares Supply Agreement (TSSSA) was established.
Predictive Maintenance via Alstom HealthHub
The primary strategy for improving reliability under GWR is the implementation of the HealthHub digital solution. This represents the first time a GWR fleet has utilized condition-based and predictive maintenance technology.
- Real-Time Data Analysis: Each train transmits data on more than 200 parameters every 30 seconds.
- Monitored Metrics: Parameters include train speed, internal carriage temperature, and GPS coordinates.
- Incident Prevention: The system is designed to alert maintenance teams to anomalies in real-time, allowing for repairs before mechanical failures impact passenger service.

Assuming that people can actually get one with these issues, what do people actually think about these trains? Are they decent trains to ride on?
My friend and I rode on one in mid-July from Liskeard to Plymouth. We both commented on how spacious the seating was, with plenty of legroom, and on how comfortable it was. Much more comfortable than a Class 800 Hitachi, although that is a low bar to compare against. So I hope they all return to service as soon as possible.
