‘Devon General Remembered’ running day at Newton Abbot
Preserved Devon General buses will take to the roads in and around Newton Abbot on Sunday 6th September 2026, recreating the routes of the 1960s.
Services will run from Highweek Way between 10am and 4pm, giving free round trips around the town and out to local destinations such as Chudleigh, Teignmouth and Torquay. Open-top bus trips will also be available, weather permitting.
The event is organised by the Devon General Society, whose two hundred members celebrate the fascinating history of a bus company that many local people recall with fondness.
A souvenir programme giving details of the routes and the buses running on them will be available on the day, or in advance by post from the Devon General Society.

Off topic, citybus have won the tendered 14 route from stagecoach starting 30th August
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame! Be interested to see the change to route/timetable for 1a from that date too?
DeleteThe usual annual reshuffle of the Plymouth City Council tendered routes! I wonder if the Council would ever consider offering them as a single package?
DeleteI think they did a few years ago but Stagecoach exercised the get out clause early
DeleteThe 14 was handed back

DeleteAll of the Plymouth tenders were handed back by Stagecoach who then rebid for them managing to increase their bids and keep all services except the 14. It is not just the 14 that was handed back
Also off topic National Express have stopped there services from Paignton and Torquay to Birmingham. Hopefully Flixbus will pick it up
ReplyDelete102 is just a weekend only service. During the week passengers get the 501 and change at exeter for the 104, or 101 in the afternoon.
DeleteThe 102 doesn't exist anymore
Delete102 and 106 overnight both gone now.
