With thanks to Mark Bailey:
Four of the new Plymouth Citybus 26-reg Wright StreetDeck Electroliners have been out in service today - 7051, 7053, 7054 and 7057. I have attached shots of 7051 (BF26 ZTU) on service 21 at St Budeaux, and 7054 (BF26 ZTX) on service 16 at King's Tamerton.

i know they're desperate for buses, but to put these out with no vynls at all is a bit poop
ReplyDeleteI think it goes to show how the company attitude has changed within Citybus since the council owned it. Back when it was owned by the council every bus, even the older ones looked immaculate inside and out. Now it just seems to be get it out, even if it's not fully ready or looks a state. I've always found with any form of public transport whether it's buses, planes, trains or trams. People respect and trust a brand more when it has a smart, professional image. If the company doesn't car, people won't either.
DeleteNow that East Anglia has gone GSW takes the bottom spot in terms of vehicle presentation.
DeleteIf you don't care about vehicle presentation, what else don't you care about with your operation?
it does feel very much like PCB have lost a part of their identity in recent times - the fact most of the buses have different variations of liveries doesn't help that - but really all people are going to care about is that the bus turns up - and gets them from A to B - and sadly, they've not been doing so great at that either.
DeleteOne thing that has to be said though, is that Go Ahead are very clearly trying to set some standards across the group for buses generally - i believe all but GSC received their new buses with the new GA Moquette internally - and of course even the 2nd hand batches received by PCB have also been re-fitted to that standard - which must make a nice change.
I can guarantee that all but bus spotters couldnt give two hoots there were no logos and would much rather have a new bus.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that many passengers would even notice the lack of fleet names. They are in bright red livery so clearly are Citybus, and they still look pretty smart.
Deletealthough there are a few older variations of liveries within Citybus they are all basically the same bright red. compared with Stagecoach who have several completely different liveries at the moment (and nots let forget First with all sorts of liveries often promoting services the other side of the country!) There has been massive changes within GSW with massive investment by Go Ahead. It will be a while before things settle down.
DeleteStagecoach are terrible at the moment
DeleteHow so??
DeleteI recall that some of the 75 plate one's were in service minus the fleet names when they arrived. I did see one of the new buses yesterday on the 34 route. The liveries used can be confusing I guess as a number of buses on the 70 route recently have been City Bus rather than TFC.
ReplyDeleteEBD142 143 145 146 147 155 all left Milehouse Friday 10th April.
ReplyDeleteStill in service are EBD 139 141 148 149 153 157
Ebd155 went 3 weeks ago according to a post on fb from michael, as was removed with 156 and 158....photo on fb today only shows 5 being taken to london
DeleteMeant to put EBD154 not 155. EBD142 went separately earlier today to the photo posted online.
DeleteOne left earlier than the other 5 on Friday morning, the remaining ones will go back next week, Monday, Thursday and Friday
ReplyDeleteWhat is that the London busses that Citybus borrowed I take that have gone back to london
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine any other GoAhead subsidiary sending out brand new buses completely unbranded.
ReplyDeleteI agree, but then other GoAhead companies have management that care
