A mixed bag of notices over the last week or so. The First South West entries seem to be catch ups going back to last January, presumably a tidy up prior to all their registrations being closed down next year.
The only one in the future is National Express 404 in January !

meanwhile we have a new video released by Plymouth Citybus showing off their new buses.

Apparently pcb drivers have rejected their recent pay offer, don't know what they were offered
ReplyDeleteAre National Express withdrawing slowly from Torbay as a few services have stopped running
ReplyDeleteThe 501 will still operate throughout the day. The 404 passenger numbers arent enough when you have the 406 heading the same direction
DeleteThe only cuts I can see is that the Birmingham service doesn't run on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - that may be seasonal. London is still four times a day plus the overnight service.
DeleteBe good if they brought back the service that ran to Brixham from Rugby and Leamington Spa. It used to be always full
DeleteThe 404 still runs Eastbound, just not Westbound. Which makes sense really as Eastbound its usually close to full
DeleteWill Flixbus be coming into Torbay
ReplyDeleteI think 5th jan is also the day parks plymouth are no more as edwards take over
ReplyDeleteParks have ran this contract for years, what will they do now with their coaches and drivers
DeleteTUPE to Edwards
DeleteI would imagine most of the fleet will become electroliners and maybe we will see a few GB kites ordered at some point. I'd love GA to order the E400EV too but who knows. In terms of the video it's more corporate waffle than showing the new buses, 50% paid for by the taxpayer I might add too!
ReplyDeleteThe amount contributed by the taxpayer through the ZEBRA grant is 75% of the additional cost over an equivalent diesel. So Go-Ahead is spending more than it would have done if it had just purchased straight diesels.
DeleteIt's not just about the taxpayer paying for buses. Considerable investment in infrastructure as well as vehicles is needed so that bus options can transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. The Government has net zero targets that it has committed to meeting, and also has one eye on future energy security - rather than relying on imported gas and oil, electric buses can be powered by British-generated green energy. As well as the Government, the Local Transport Authority and bus operators are also required to contribute to some of the funding (indeed, the bids are Local Authority-led).
DeleteThe electrolytes are the worst buses that PCB have ever bought, even worse than the leyland nationals
ReplyDeleteThe electrics don't last very long on a full charge
