Former Flash Fried

I tried to post this yesterday but “computer said no”

Citybus have lost another bus yesterday

One appliance from Launceston Community Fire Station along with two appliances from Bodmin Community Fire Station and a whole time officer were mobilised to reports of a large vehicle fire on the A30 westbound.

On arrival crews were met with a double decker bus well alight🔥. Crews wearing BA using HRJ and TIC got to work and extinguished the fire before handing over to Devon & Cornwall police and highways.

This section of the A30 remains closed and diversions are in place.

Please allow extra time if you’re heading westbound.

  1. Have they discovered the cause?

  2. Unfortunately this is what happens when you use vehicles that aren't designed to run at high speed on very hilly roads, these have the smaller 4 cylinder engines too instead of the large 6 cylinder ones.

  3. Its only down to ongoing poor maintenance & cost cutting by PCB/GCB, the company is rapidly going downhill, another E400 written off this morning in Cornwall following another accident

  4. Coincidentally there is an interesting editorial piece on RouteONE magazine's website about bus and coach fires. It concludes there is still more work to be done around preventing vehicle fires because of the reputational damage severe ones such as this do to the industry. The newest vehicles have fire suppression measures built in - but there are still a lot of older vehicles around and will be for some years.
