A bit of blue

A new low-emission #Enviro200 upgrades Taw and Torridge Coaches' service 31 on the North Devon coast, which the independent operator provides in partnership with Devon County Council. Starting at Ilfracombe’s picturesque harbour, the route moves inland to Mullacott Cross before descending steeply from Mortehoe to reach Woolacombe and its beach, often ranked as one of the best in Britain.

Liveried externally in Taw and Torridge’s distinctive sky blue and silver, the Enviro200’s bespoke interior offers 40 seats. Apart from five tip-up seats in the wheelchair and separate buggy bay, they are comfortable high-back Alexander Dennis SmartSeats trimmed in two-tone e-leather and double-padded where possible. Bright wood-effect flooring contrasts with the seats for an attractive overall experience.

Taw & Torridge Managing Director Mark Hunt said: “We’re delighted to upgrade our customers’ journeys this year with this brand new Enviro200 single decker that Alexander Dennis has built to our specification. This allows us to reallocate the similar bus we bought in 2021 from core journeys on our popular service 31 to supporting duties. The Enviro200 is a great fit for our service routes, delivering efficiency and substantial passenger capacity in a vehicle that navigates North Devon’s narrow and steep lanes with ease.”

Our Regional Sales Manager Mark Taylor added: “We’re proud to support Taw and Torridge Coaches in enhancing vital rural connectivity with this bespoke Enviro200. Designed to meet the unique demands of North Devon’s scenic but challenging terrain, this vehicle combines comfort, efficiency and accessibility. It’s a great example of how our buses deliver real benefits for operators, passengers and the environment alike.”

  1. Falcon livery. That's a bit more like it !
I'm so pleased that the era of a sticky label as a limp excuse for a branding looks like coming to an end. Under Megabus, it was such a come-down after the original livery that was really eye catching and smart.

  2. The new Falcon livery is a great improvement over over the random ex-Megabus liveries which have been the norm for too long. It is good to see the service being marketed again. At least one coach has already entered service as I saw and photographed 54601 in Exeter on 13 October 2025.

  3. Why aren't all the new stagecoach electric buses painted in the new steel blue livery?

    1. I guess because by the time that Stagecoach finally made up its corporate mind on the livery it would have meant significant cost changing the specification for buses already in build. It's actually created a compete mess in respect of Stagecoach's corporate image.
