Better Transport in Plymouth Today

Thanks to Mark Bailey for supply these great shots from town today:

A few photos from the Better Transport Week event in Plymouth city centre today.

Citybus brought along two of their new Wright StreetDeck Electroliners, 7001 (GO25 ELC) and 7018 (BN25 DFE).  7001 was delivered as BN25 DCY and I'm not sure if it has been re-registered or was just sporting the GO25 ELC plate for the event.   (I believe it has been properly re-registered) I was told that these two buses were chosen because they had the most charge in their batteries!  They are due to enter service in six weeks time once the charging infrastructure at Milehouse is complete.  A leaflet has been produced showing their green credentials.

Also available at the event were printed copies of a long overdue Plymouth bus map showing all operators, and produced by the Plymouth Bus Partnership

  1. Why do they need a big screen in the middle of the upstairs window screen. It's about time bus companies and manufacturers realised this is why people travel on the top deck to get better views ,and now with the new electric buses we get a great big telly screen in the way

    2. Enhanced audio-visual information systems are compulsory on new vehicles, and will need to be retro-fitted to existing vehicles up to a certain age within the next few years. The big screen is to comply with the Department for Transport's PSVAR (Public Service Vehicle Accessibility Regulations) and is not fitted at the whim of the operators or manufacturers.

  2. So, im all for the new buses and this is probably fairly minor in comparison to everything, but why on earth can't the guys doing the vynl make sure everything lines up correctly? It just looks shoddy. Its happened on nearly every bus so far.

    1. yeah i could agree with the vynl side.. the logo placement annoys me alot.. but the buses still do look smart neverless... i would much prefer tho if they did the vynl logos as seen on the OE11s and the e200s not placed where it looks like it was rushed.. hoping the next batch will have that cleaner style done on them...

    2. It's Citybus so what do you expect, they haven't been one for presentation in about 20 years but Richard Stevens loves to make everything cheap and cheerful

  3. Probably tells you when the battery is going to go flat
