Night buses are set to be available in two parts of the South West this summer.
Devon and Cornwall Police said following a successful trial in Barnstaple in December 2023, it has worked with partners to introduce night buses there, and in Newquay. The bus services, provided by Stagecoach in north Devon and First Bus in Newquay are set to operate on Saturdays from 6 July to 7 September. It added the new services, which cost £2 a journey, were in bid to reduce "drink and drug-related incidents".
Stagecoach buses are starting to become looking tired and shabby as most of them are over 12 years old. Are we going to see some newer buses coming into the fleet soon?

DeleteAnd presumably the ten Solos are due any time now, as about half the batch has now been delivered. Currently Stagecoach (South) are getting their examples.

DeleteLots of new electric DDs due next year - not for Plymouth but will certainly see off a lot of older buses when the arrive.
ReplyDeleteThe nineteen 67-registered Scanias at Torquay will be replaced by the new electrics. Other cascades of the 62/13/63 registered Scanias currently at Torquay, Exeter and Barnstaple should enable older double-deckers to be stood down. There will also be mid-life buses elsewhere in the Stagecoach empire that will be displaced by new electrics, some of those could find their way to the South West.

DeleteCould do with double deckers being put back on the 93/3 Plymouth to Dartmouth route as very busy, also potential for a sight seeing route route
