  1. B1 and B2 as far as I know are placing runs registered as commercial services to get the bus and driver to/from start/finish of DCC contracts.

  2. Any news about the new 315 service between Exeter and Barnstaple? Apparently it won't be using Exeter bus station

    1. It looks like Plymouth Citybus

    2. New services 306, 315, 345 and 377 will be done by citybus,

      Delete
    3. The 306 could potentially be operated by a Transport for Cornwall vehicle from the outstation at Launceston, however I am curious about the operating arrangements for the 315, 345 and 377 - does that mean a new outstation somewhere?

  3. Very interesting that Plymouth Citybus have won the tenders for the new Devon County Council routes 315,345 & 377.We live in interesting times...

    1. Got a feeling an announcement going to be made soon which will make this tender wins make more sense

    2. Yes indeed. Rumours of it taking over Dartline in Exeter, any truth in that you heard Graham?

    3. The 306 will be operated by Go Cornwall Bus, presumably it will operate from the Launceston outstation. The 315, 345 and 377 are more intriguing as none of these routes will operate anywhere near Plymouth so it looks like a new outstation will be needed.

    4. I suppose they will take Plymouth drivers to do this and leave Plymouth with more cancellations

    5. I didn’t think they had enough drivers in Plymouth or Cornwall???

  4. If Plymouth Citybus are still cancelling services in Plymouth because of driver shortages how are they going to supply drivers for a bus service over 40 miles away.

    1. How is it they keep being given these extra contracts! Its amazing though, they are constantly cancelling services in both Plymouth and Cornwall being unable to cover the services and yet are being “awarded” further contracts further afield. Lets not forget that in April PCB/GCB axed/reduced a lot of services many of which are questionable and should have solved the driver shortage issue which it hasnt. I think its about time someone with some common sence took over the running of PCB and GCB and restore services to an acceptable level. If funding is such a big issue then why not focus on the services they already have than take on further contracts which they dont have the drivers and resources to run the said contracts.

    2. Yeah totally agree. To be fair to Stagecoach whom have come in for a lot of criticism lately they do seem to be doing the right thing in giving up their contracts to try and sort out their commercial services. As someone whom travel regularly on service 36 I can honestly say the service with Citybus is absolutely shocking compared to Stagecoach in previous years.

    3. Anon 6 Oct 17:20 Given up but then tendered for the contracts again putting in higher bids due to less passengers & higher costs so hoping to win back on higher margins not to resolve its staff shortages as you suggest.

  5. There are several comments on line that the Go Ahead group are at an advanced stage of buying Dartline Coaches (Dealtop Ltd) in Exeter. All the financial charges against Dealtop Ltd were satisfied in mid September so there is money moving around. They have small operating centres in Okehampton for the 118, Lapford near Crediton, and Tiverton.

  6. Now with so many operators in mid Devon do you think they'll bring back the weekly Keywest ticket

  7. Interesting that as the massive cuts across Devon come in at the end of month by Stagecoach despite the drivers returning from Brum here from last Sunday all West Midlands Travel Limited BCT services have now returned fully to pre Covid-19 levels in complete contrast. No longer living in Wellswood I would be interested to hear if Plymouth Citybus are still not running all mileage and canceling journeys whilst taking on extra DCC work from your excellent contributiors and thier thoughts. As an aside back when I worked at First Western National Buses Ltd we quite simply had no dialogue whatsoever with PCT it was though they didn't exist to be honest.

    1. Stagecoach have sent a large number of drivers to London now so we are still screwed but not as bad as The Commonwealrh Ganes screwed us . Actually Devin has fared better than most of the country with DCC stepping in ensuring almost no change and actually the Stagecoach cuts are also minimal even without DCC compared to say Canbridge.

  8. You were NOT " screwed " in any way by The Commonwealth Games" and ask you to withdraw that language which is uncalled for as its a slur on us in Birmingham. The Commonwealth Games was hugely sucessfull and has been applauded by many. We had a contract with Stagecoach PLC to deliver internal transportation. Stagecoach conducted the contract very well and we have no complaints about thier delivery. Any problems you may have encountered are the fault of DWS & any comments should be directed at them & not The Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham which were in no way the blame for the comments you have raised.
