    Shame First couldn't have wrapped one of their E400MMCs rather than an 18-year old Gemini in its twilight years!

    1. It looks great - what’s the problem.
      It great that First managed to turn round getting this vehicle into a paintshop and vinyls on in such a short timescale from the artwork being produced.
      The reason for the choice of this particular vehicle is actually entirely logical.
      A First vehicle is required by TfC for numerous ongoing events and promotional appearances. Using this one allows the required bus to be based on a fixed school duty, am only, with a regular driver. That means it can be kept in Summercourt, easily cleaned, is available for use after am schools without restriction, with the dedicated driver, and given tlc. It’s also tachograph fitted.

    2. Given its age-disguising N Irish registration, I expect very few people outside the enthusiast community would know (or care) that such a smartly-presented bus is actually eighteen years old.

  2. Even then, internally, first’s older deckers are in better nick than the former red flashes, which are 8 or so years old

    1. Some of the other Citybus fleet are looking very tired inside not just the former Flash Enviros. The former Brighton deckers are in dire need of an interior repaint and retrim.

    1. assuming you mean the First bus, it will be because they are all commercial operations so First can use what they want

  4. Not at all. The council, through a government grant is funding the low fares scheme. First's local bus services in Cornwall cannot in any way be described as commercial these days.

  5. Cornwall by Kernow is commercial as the services are not supported by Cornwall Council. The government is paying for fares to be reduced. Most Go Cornwall Bus routes are financially supported by Cornwall Council and are also benefiting from the reduced fare scheme. There is a sharp distinction- one operator is providing services commercially and the other is not.
