  1. Will all the new Torbay timetables due to start 10th April be delayed now that the bridge isn't being finished till late May

    1. What is the change to 2 and 2a Saltash?

    2. Im not sure about the 2 2A as Stagecoach have yet to tell us. There was a new timetable published from 1st April on Traveline but nothing yet from 24th

    3. Yes they will, according to the Stagecoach website. 122 won't start until the bridge reopens.

    4. There is no reason why the Torbay 12, much busier from Easter, can not be increased back to every 10 minutes by inserting an extra bus particularly as it is saving loads of drivers by delaying the open-top 122 for two months! The overrun bridge works conveniently cover-up the on going shortage of drivers in Torbay where they continue to leave with poor retention rates amongst the new recruits.

  2. Off topic, CityBus 508 has been refunded repainted, out of the image Bank livery and into a Yellow and Blue support Ukraine livery. See look on Go Cornwall Bus website

  3. Stagecoach website confirms that the 12 will continue on the temporary timetable until at least 23rd May and the 122 will not be introduced before then. Presumably Gold will continue to start and terminate at Paignton but with the early and late timetable changes for the revised workings at the Plymouth end.

  4. And as for the 92, I’m guessing that since it’s going to continue running on Mondays to Saturday’s, then the 8:30 must be getting withdrawn from Totnes, since the 110 is now terminating at KEVICS.

    1. Becomes single vehicle DCC route so one less round trip

  5. Citybus 40 and 41 withdrawn from April 24th. Southway covered by 42. Also service 5 withdrawn from Saltash. Only tfc services 11 and 12 now. Hopefully Stagecoach will increase their 2 and 2a again in Saltash

    1. Are Southway 40/41 not well used anymore Graham? Will 42 have sufficient capacity? Is this more due to driver shortages perhaps? What will new 42 group format be beyond Derriford, assume every 10 minutes still from City Centre?

  6. Citybus cuts continue with the axing of service 40/41 from end of the month. Southway will be served by 42 and 42a via Derriford. They also seem to be giving up on their competitive move on Stagecoach park and ride from the George with cut to just 2 x 42c an hour against the 7 buses provided on Stagecoach 1 and 101. Saltash service also severly cut with no dedicated service anymore , 5 and 5a axed, replaced with go cornwall services 11,12 and 72 only. Stagecoach should do well from this with their 2/2a service. This not to mention poor old Torpoint down to 1 bus an hour on 70. This is a far cry from the promised super enhanced services of The BSIP!

    1. If they are rerouting the 42 to cover Plympton, what’s the plan for Mainstone? That’s tendered.
Also, wasn’t their tender win for PR3 too? Which they merged in to increased 42/42C service at the George? Is this not effected by withdrawing more services from P&R?

    2. 5 has been removed from Saltash due to 5 living in TFC network already and 11 12 72 having a good range of options into saltash. no idea whats going to happen to the City - St B'duax avenue though with less buses. What's happened with the service through Estover & to Asda that 42s used to do? 27/28 coming back for that?

    3. P+R move odd as it now runs & mans the George terminal building instead of Stagecoach. Saltash still served every 20 minutes though due to shorts on TfC services verses Stagecoach every 15 minutes on reduced 2/2A so no great difference, particularly if occasional trip missing on Stagecoach with driver shortages or is that no longer an issue in Plymouth as it still very much is in Exeter with completely dire services.

    4. The BSIP is a funding bid presented to the Government. If that funding does not materialise, neither do the super enhanced services. If you want to point the finger of blame, aim it in the right direction.

    5. To be fair I have found Stagecoach services to be pretty reliable in Plymouth since last October, after a wobbly time through last summer, the overwhelming majority of services seem to run now. Nothing like Exeter no.

  7. holy smokes - wouldn't take anything from the registration of the 5/5a - it's never said it goes to saltash and it's still covering Cornwall according to the LA covered. 42s going back to normal routes removing Estover & ASDA, 27 & 28 back to original routes now Forder Valley getting closer to completion. 42D is a gonner too by the looks of it as 42s cover this anyway, be interesting to see what Stagecoach bring to the table...

    1. If you check timetable on traveline 5 and 5a are now Plymouth to Plymstock/Elburton only. Whilst 11 12 and 72 should in theory provide 20 min frequency Saltash to Plymouth they are often delayed and I can see bunching and big gaps being an issue. Also this will see a big reduction on the St Budeaux to city corridor from PCB, both could potentially be a gift to Stagecoach particularly as their fares are a fair bit cheaper on this corridor too

  8. Lots of comments above which is great! There are a few more changes coming through still - some to follow in todays post. Hopefully this will give a clearer picture - but the 5's are removed from Saltash, the Mainstone 42s are being replaced when the 28As which resume now Forder Valley is open. Both Stagecoach and Citybus are clearly having major staffing issues at the moment so it would make a lot more sense to reduce services properly until staffing levels increase rather than the daily gamble of relying on a bus running as it stands at the moment

    1. Apparently Stagecoach staffing levels in Plymouth are not too bad (probably as they don't have that many routes and increased pay substantially) I am surprised by the withdrawal of the 40/41 although this route has been cut back over recent years Torpoint seem to be cast adrift by Citybus and Saltash reductions I guess will be of benefit to Stagecoach at least. It would be good idea for them to increase this service (2 and 2a) back to precovid levels.

  9. To be fair, Stagecoach reinstated the 10/20 minute service at new year 2021, unfortunately just before lockdown 3 was imposed, and that was the reason for the "wobbly time", I would suggest; certainly when they went back to 15/30 min the service became much more reliable. I can't see them increasing the service again just yet.

  10. Looks like Stagecoach 2/2A to Saltash just remaining reduced every 15 instead of 10 minutes as that's its frequency in the new Cornwall Summer timetable book online. Good it's not struggling with drivers in Plymouth as it is in Exeter (and to less extent also in Torbay & Barnstaple).
