Railway Week: New Gates

Bit of a rail theme this week as I attempt to catch up on some of the railway news from the last few weeks

THE Plym Valley Railway station at Plympton is set for a revamp. Brand new iron gates will welcome visitors as part of a plan to give the Coypool entrance a facelift.The organisation that runs the heritage railway has submitted a planning application to Plymouth City Council for the site. The first part of the old railway opened in 2001 as part of a plan to restore part of the former Great Western line between Plymouth and Tavistock. The Plym Valley Railway Company also wants to put up an entrance wall and railings along part of the track at the Tavistock junction freight yard. Some of the railings came from the Royal Citadel, which was getting rid of them. A public consultation period ends on November 18 EVENING HERALD 25 OCTOBER 2014

  1. I know it's rail week, but a small bus update. According to your updated fleet list 14 is off the road being repaired, it is now back on the road and was out on 40's today.

    1. A Western Greyhound bus reversed into it in mid September. It is currently parked in the depot where 28 was, in a similar state being stripped for spares. 10 and 14 both returned to the road today following repairs. Always nice to see these old workhorses out earning their trade.

    2. Apparently a coach from another local company reversed into it. It's currently parked in the spot near C track that 28 occupied for a time.

    4. Yep that's the one Graham! It was the morning of Monday 8th September at the Rail Station inbound the accident happened. It was down the Lower Yard outside the tramshed with all the other withdrawn SLF's by Wednesday 10th September, and at some point between October 17th and October 22nd it was moved to C track where it currently is. I can't be more precise than that as it wasn't there on the 17th but was on the 22nd, so it was at some point between those two dates!

  3. Could be the end of the road for Dart no. 10 as it had obviously had to be towed back to Milehouse and was parked next to the wash this evening (6th November) with the front panels missing. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

    1. Looks like no. 10 lives on. Outside the workshops today with all the front panels replaced.
