Thanks to Michael for permission to share this nice photo of former Citybus 45, one of the first batch that preceded the full on Dodge invasion on Plymouth that cleared out so many decent buses from the streets of Plymouth. Can you tell I wasnt a fan?

On a separate note I am afraid that I have had to turn on comment moderation for a while at least. This is not due to any comments being left but to try and cut down on the huge volume of spam comments that I am getting at the moment. A lot of them are being picked up by Google and not making it through onto the site itself but quite a few do get through and have to be deleted manually. I also get each one through as an email so I can see what people are saying. Yesterday I received almost 100 comments – almost all of them spam. Most of them take the form of a simple message and a link to a web site. Typical of them is this rubbish:

Unquestionablу bеlieve that thаt you stateԁ. Your favorite justіfication appeaгed tо be οn the internet the easiеѕt fаctor to take іnto accоunt оf. I say tο you, I ceгtаinly get annoyed whіlѕt folks consіdeг concerns that they just dо not recognise abοut. You controlled to hit the naіl upоn the highest and alsο outlineԁ out the еntігe thіng without hаvіng side effect , othеr folks cаn take a signаl. Will probably be agаіn to get more. Thаnk you My web-sіte: xxxxxxxxxx.com

You can see why I hate getting these clogging up my inbox!

I do like to let people leave anonymous comments if they choose so I dont want to switch on the full set of comment tools so hopefully by switching on moderation it will stop rubbish from getting on site – even if it still means me reading through lots of spam! If anyone has any problems leaving comments email me!

  3. You have our sympathies with the spam comments, Graham. We saw those rubbish comments left on the site yesterday.

Fortunately, we can easily filter out the proper comments about buses (or even the emergency services, which don't interest some of us so much), from the insane comments left by some intruder from the far east.

    Keep up the good work!

  4. I guess it's a sad reality that spam is an unwanted feature of near enough every website nowadays - comment moderation certainly should help! I have other ideas on how else to prevent it which I'll pop in an email at some point. I hope it hasn't/doesn't put you off what is an amazing blog - as Petras409 says above keep up the good work!!

  5. Hi Graham

I can tell you weren't a fan of the Dodges. As a young lad growing up and getting into buses I grew to love these buses, they saved services that were dying with high frequencies.

I am desperately trying to find a remaining Plymouth Dodge to preserve for future generations. If anybody has any info on the where abouts of such a vehicle. Please email me nickfuzzy@hotmail.co.uk

  6. I remember what I think was their first route - the C1. Weren't this first batch (starting at 45) smaller than the later ones, or different gearboxes, or something?e first few bought of a different size than the majority? za
