First are first

Well who would have put money on First Devon & Cornwall putting new 12 registered buses out in service before Citybus? First 33667 SN12AEK
There were just two of the new buses in service today with this one on the PR1 and another on the PR2. I am sure the rest will enter service over the next few days. I have to say I do like this livery. I hope that the SHUTTLE fleetname is just for the Olympics and that once that is out of the way they will get something more appropriate, but for now well done First.

  1. If First Leeds' and Southampton's new liveries are anything to go by, it'll just be the word "PLYMOUTH" plastered onto the side in pink caps lettering.

  2. In theory the fleetname can be anything - as decided at a local level. I have seen a suggestion that COLCHESTER CITY was going to be their local fleetname but no idea if that was rumour or fact.
I would hope it would get proper PLYMOUTH PARK & RIDE names rather than just PLYMOUTH!

  3. I'm told this particular bus has gone back to London as Plymouth were unable to update the destination display. Good start

  5. Who'd have though that First would be first? Me! There's been plenty of talk on forums about D&C having an allocation of seven from the current order, so it was always possible. Something of last minute win, mind! I take it that the order's been increased from 7 to 9 as well?

  6. The livery is disgusting as are the awful pink poles inside the seats are nice but we want the park and ride livery on them once the olympic services are finished seems bizzare to do this swop now before the olympics typical of a company this sie to waste so much money

  7. I think they look very nice and I would keep the colour as it is...the old blue was getting tired anyway!!

First really should work on their promo...they are always getting accused of only using old stock in Devon and here is a massive investment in new buses for Plymouth and there has been no advertising at all !!!

  8. There's little point promoting them, as they probably won't come back from the Olympics anyway.

  9. They're off to Weymouth for P&R shuttle at the games.

  10. The legal lettering on the buses gives it away. First Games Transport at an address in Paddington. FDC have put their own in the side window as they are required to do whilst the buses are on loan but to believe these buses will return after the Olympics is a bit like waiting for pigs to fly.

  11. FDC were always down to receive these new Enviro DDs from the large First Group order. It was also planned that most of the new First order would be held back for the Olympics and then go out to the local fleets. I am pretty sure we will get them back for the Park & Ride after the event is over.

  12. They'll be replaced with older low floor double decks from North Devon after the Olympics, as First will have plenty to spare by then!!!

  13. Ha!

But Stagecoach are taking over the buses with the business. There may be a swap around I guess but there wont be a load of spare buses sitting around!

I did witness a very near miss yesterday at Derriford, some dozy woman on her phone nearly ran into the back of one stopped at the lights. Still not sure how she missed!
