We believe in promotion

You may have noticed that there is a big marketing push by First Bus at the moment. I am not sure if the television advert has been played locally yet but you dont have to go far on First web site to notice the new look adverts that appear across the top. We Believe... We Believe... We Believe...
I have to admit I actually quite like this campaign. Its very easy to be dismissive and cynical especially with some of the claims above, but if it works and gets more passengers on the buses than surely that's a good thing.
One or two First companies have buses in an all over advert scheme which carries the same theme but it remains to be seen if we get one in Devon & Cornwall. I certainly hope so anyway.
One aspect of the promotion that is here is the Millions of Freebies promotion.
We Believe... You can check the back of your ticket or register on line. Bus pass users are also catered for as you can register your pass and go online everyday to see what you have won. I have registered and checked three days and so far have only 'won' promotional vouchers with Blockbusters offering me half prize DVD rental etc. The site does mention lots of other prizes so you never know - you might just pick up something really good.

  1. “We believe there should always be a bus when you need one” That is an interesting claim from an organisation that has cut so many rural routes in both Devon and Cornwall over the last couple of years, some to communities that are only 2.5 miles away from the Plymouth City boundary and once relied on a bus service for work and leisure. Thanks First Bus, love your new marketing campaign, makes me feel so much better, please can you now run some more buses? Thanks

  4. I think this is a great idea...may encourage xta customers onto their buses....I just wish they were to expand in Plymouth again...particularly bring back UGO11 to Hoinicknowle and Perhaps increase their presence on the Northern Corridor, Derriford/Mutley/City, maybe by increasing the ever popular UGO15 back to 15 minute frequency and mayne an hourly evening service between 9pm and 11pm/perhaps hourly in unday too!!

It seems the UGO15 is gettimg more popular by the week and I am sure they could get more customers in Estover etc off Citybus 50 by doing this, particularly as they are cheaper too!!!

  7. They need Some More Comfortable Buses; those Non-descript Wright B6BLE's are Awful!

Their Drivers are the Worst in the City! Arrogant, Non-personable and Obnoxious! 2 in Particular, I never Get on the Bus if its Them!

  8. The 15 is still going strong!!! I personally think they should bring back the 11, 12, and 17 and give Citybus/Go ahead a run for their money!!!

  12. Re Anon todaty at 12:00, I agree First are way cheaper on the 15, where I am they are 40 - 50p return cheaper to town..hence it getting so much busier lately...I am not sure how much a return from Estover is, bur certainly a lot cheaper where i am!! It seems to me whoever where the original service provider in the area are the MOST expensive now. IE First are cheaper In Estover, Crownhill, Devonport etc, but Citybus are cheaper in Saltash!! Although citybus service in Saltash has been cut back to a level where you must think they are on the way out of Saltash ??? Not really competitve!

  13. Citybus don't Compete with First in Saltash, Never 'Really' have Done.

  14. I don;t know why Citybus carry on going to Saltash..for what passengers they get there..the 43a might as well stop at Plymouth side of Tamar bridge!
