Appy Christmas

One consequence of the increased competition for passengers in Plymouth has been that we have seen some very useful fare cuts and some very impressive deals on multi journey tickets from both companies. The latest deal from Plymouth Citybus has been announced:

1077

The full range of tickets and the new prices is on there web page HERE but just as a taster we have the adult tickets:

Adult tickets (for 19 and over)

Plym Zone 1 and 2, 24 hour (Dayrider) = £3.60  £3.24

Plym Zone 1, 2 and 3, 24 hour (Dayrider) = £4.20 £3.78

Plym Zone 1 or 2, 7 Day = £11.00 (was £12, special offer until 31/12/13) £9.90

Plym Zone 1 and 2, 7 Day  = £15.50 £13.95

Plym Zone 1, 2 and 3, 7 Day = £18 £16.20

Plym Zone 1 or 2, 31 Day = £44 (was £48, special offer until 31/12/13) £39.60

Plym Zone 1 and 2, 31 Day = £55 £49.50

Plym Zone 1, 2 and 3, 31 Day = £59 £53.10

I do see more and more people using these tickets now so these tickets will be very popular.

On a separate note I have to thank Richard Stevens for a full guided tour of the whole Citybus operation yesterday afternoon up at Milehouse and the Citybus Travel Shop on Royal Parade. It was nice to finally meet him and spend some time discussing public transport and Citybus in particular for a few hours. I am afraid I haven't got any top secret information as to what new routes Citybus will start next to tell everyone though!

What I did find really interesting was a chat about scheduling and just how complicated it can be with many routes interworking with each other. Just increasing a route from 20 min frequency to a 15 min frequency might seem like a easy job on the surface but can have all sorts of implications for other routes and corridors.

The other bit of news I can say is that the next 8 Enviros are due any day now, possibly even today or early next week. He is keen to get them all out on the 21 Red Flash for maximum impact on the route. With the final 4 due later and the batch of 20 PVLs currently being delivered from London it brings in very welcome and much needed extra capacity.
