They do keep around 30 drivers as 'spare' (I'm told instead of having a set duty written down on their rota it just says 'SPARE') during the week at least, with around 5 as 'Standby', for a few hours each. Things must have been bad Sunday night - even Brian George stepped in and covered a duty! Top marks to him and all the other drivers who are working rest days and giving up part of their breaks to cover duties; if I was a manager at Citybus I would definitely appreciate it!
