I’ll be catching up on recent events tomorrow, but for now here are the service notices from the past week. It might seem like a lot, but with one exception, they all come down to two events:
- 23 February – new bus stop arrangements on Royal Parade
- 23 February – temporary relocation of Truro Bus Station
The odd one out is Stagecoach 93, affected by the destruction of the road at Torcross. This is likely to be a long-term issue, as I can’t see the road being rebuilt anytime soon.

Goes to show the level of detail nowadys. If this was 15-20 years ago before the online era / tracking etc, would operators have to re reigster every single service for Royal Parade opening or Truro bus stn closing? Just something to think about.
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure they did, At least 10 years ago when Bretonside and Exeter coach stations were closing they did. Not sure if there is / was a limit for temporary changes before they need to be registered though?
DeleteWith regard to Torcross, who would have put money on Dawlish being re-opened in 8 weeks in 2014, so you never know ..... {or do you?)

DeleteThe road was closed for several months in 2018 after damage during 'Beast from the East in the March. At the time it was said that there might come a time in the future when storm damage would be beyond economic repair and the road would have to be abandoned completely. I suspect we are not quite there yet.
DeleteThe area does of course have a history of coastal erosion. The village of Hallsands had to be abandoned in the last Century and most of the buildings have collapsed into the sea. The cause was man-made; the over-extraction of shingle to provide building material for the naval dockyard at Keyham removed the village's natural defences. This may also be a factor in the recent damage to properties in Torcross.

ReplyDeleteThe Royal Parade and Exeter Street Viaduct changes are postponed until Monday 2nd March, as the work has been delayed by recent poor weather.
